Since the frame is already silver, I think having the seat / tank mostly red with a thinner white stripe may be more fitting. And I vote against the black fenders.
Sorry guys, I fucked it last night I guess. i had to change the heater fan motor in my rav and chucked it in the same box, landed right on top of the foam. If you know florist foam you can stick your finger in it and ruin it so the fan motor put a huge dent in the top of the foam. Oh well It's a one off seat now.
I think you're right Rich I like the body color fenders and maybe thinner stripes. I was trying to make them the same silver as the frame as I have red paint and silver paint. and no money to spend on any more.
With the financial constraints, I would suggest red fenders (no stripe) and maybe a thinner silver stripe down the center of tank and seat. White or cream would look best on the tank sides IMHO, but silver would work for now.
If you have a few dollars left over, you could add pinstripe tape to get clean lines where colors touch. Or leave that as a later upgrade.
Well got a coat of paint on the seat tonight. Duplicolor enamel red, and since I won the 50/50 at work on friday i got white too so I masked off for whit stripes on the seat, It took almost the whole can of paint so I will be getting a second can for the tank when I strip it and repaint, so I may just lower the front fender and paint them next year.
I also got the leather cover sewn up and ready to mount to the glass pan I made. Layed the white into the stripes this morning before work so if I get home at lunch I can take a pic in the sun outside, basement lights suck. I will likely have to wetsand an touch up the red as there were 2 small spots that bubbled but overall it turned out pretty good. I think I might have to redo the stripe as it might be slightly off center. I was on beer 6 so got to remember to lay stripes sober or on beer 12 to get them right ;D
Re: Got the 450 Back, Seat Paint and tail light mounted!
ok, the seat paint is ok, but I scratched it a bit doing the trim and light mounting, needs a wetsand and second coat. Also the stripe is not centered, so I will sand that part down and re spray it correct. I was half lit and it was too dark in the basement, so I will re-mask and re-paint in better light with less beer ;D I have to strip the tank and redo the filler on a couple of dents anyway, also have to do the bucket. I liek the color and the paint is really glossy without a clear on it. Not sure if I will do the white scallops on the seat and tank or not. I seem to get about 1 hour a night to do this. It is taking forever and I want to ride this bike again before the season ends.
Well it has been forever, but I finally got the tank stripped, filled and re-painted, and since I had almost no red left the whole scheme got reversed. Ordered some red Honda wing logos for the sides of the tank. Got to try and get to the shed to get the headlight bucket to re-paint it and I am going to do the wheels in the duplicolor gun metal wheel paint once the weather warms up. I smelled the house up bad enough doing this even with the windows open and a fan. I need to touch up around the light, but it is ok enough for me.
Pics.
I need to fix the velcro on the seat pad too as it came off from pulling it in -20 weather.
Looks good! The wife will get over it man, but you may have to butter her up with some flowers or whatnot! Never hurts to do that every once in a while, helps with past and future events that she may not approve off, but you will surely do!
I like the new color scheme better. I don't know if it was my eyes or what but the first time (with the red base) the center stripe looked a lil crooked. But it looks great now. Can't wait to see it all together.

It was crooked. I got this a little straighter this time. I so need better light though in the basement because there are a few small spots that the body work is visible. Going to leave it though until I can get a better place to work. going to get the decals on when they arrive then hopefully 2K clear the whole thing after I get the bucket to match.
Re: Got the 450 Back - Decals arrvied now should I do something to the seat?
Here is the tank with the $7 ebay decals. I like them, question is, should I do something on the sides of the seat? Was thinking maybe a number or something? What do you guys think?
Re: Got the 450 Back - Decals arrvied now should I do something to the seat?
White looks tops with the red decals! Love it! I did two little pin stripy things on my seat. Not sure what look you're going for but you tank looks freakily similar to mine!
