Time for a small update: I've been riding this bike almost daily (just for fun) for months now. Loving it. Even washed it (I hardly ever wash my bikes).
I love it, man. There's just something about it that makes me really want to ride it. And I believe that might be the first squarish headlight that I think looks really great!
Holy cow! I didn't realize you were on here. Your CB750 was the bike that was the final straw for me. First time I saw a pic of it, I decided I had to have a go at making something like that some day... and in fact prompted me to buy my first bike, at 38 years old. When I started the folder on my computer desktop of awesome bike pics I needed to hold onto for inspiration, that 750 was the first one in there. I love everything about it. Kudos!
@ Graham: I'm here just about daily, just don't post daily. Been here for years. And thank you, that's about the biggest compliment one can get I guess.
@ Jay: Photography is becoming more and more a hobby of mine. This shot was made with a wireless flash (an analogue flash and analogue lens to keep it low budget). Only git that recently, so I'm still practicing a lot with it. Liked the result in this photo.
i was meaning to ask, did you keep a stock bulb in that housing (from the bug) or did you change things? The light output looks pretty good, which is surprising since it's a backup light.
The light came without a bulb, I used an H1 bulb. Light level is good enough, but the projection is a bit odd. It lights a ring in front of you, not a circle , so the road in front of you is not very light. But it's good enough.
This is a really inspirational thread to finish up my other bikes so I can start on the 73 cb750 I have hidden away. Really beautiful, simple, rideable
I have been riding the bike a lot. I am very fortunate to have two working bikes in my possession (and very proud that both have now been featured on BikeExif). In all those miles the CB only 'failed' me twice, both times the cable end of the clutch cable snapped off. Both times I was able to fix it withing 20 minutes on the side of the road. It's great fun to ride!
Must say, awesome bike....it is one of the biggest inspirations for ideas on my bike. being a college student, I am also working on a budget and time constraints being away from the bike most the year. What did you pull the tail light from? And how did you go about making that seat pan, I see you welded extra brackets on the front of the frame arch on the rear end there.
