Also are you planning some sort of under frame shock setup since the swingarm is upside down and the shock mount is now on the bottom or will you just get a new mount tigged to the top? Also are you modding the diff housing as well since it's upside down or no need to? So many questions
The CX driveshaft must turn the other way already as otherwise the CX would have the same problem since they both have the diff gears setup the same. I was thinking more along the lines of oil filler and drain etc being upside down and any internal lubrication channels in the diff etc Also wondering how the diff gears will be strength and noise wise with the drive on the backside of the gear, obviously shaft drive bikes have the gear mesh etc all setup for it having drive in one direction
So many questions! As you're spotted Steve F yes the swing arm is upside down and because of the way the swing arm is I need to use a pull type shock sooner than a push type shock. I did make some drawings and planned on using a CBR 600 shocker which I was going to modify. (see drawing) probably makes no sense whatsoever!

I can see the way you're thinking but this design will fold. looks like you'll need 2 additional pivoting arms from something stable/fixed (frame).1 to stabilise point A(shock) & another for point B(shock) , think along the lines of wishbones or panhard rods. but you will need to beware of all the different radii arcs effectively locking up against each other, not touching, just creating trig points.
Sorry if this is going to sound simplistic but....Make some full size cardboard templates of all the parts including swingarm & shock(get a bit creative to make two pieces of card slide to replicate the shock movement), pin to a table at the fixed points & paper fasteners at the pivots to allow movement...then play with design.
I f**kin love this sort of thinking, just because the mainstream factories designs stuff one way never means it's the only way....probably the most cost effective way but where's the soul in that.

After much deliberation, calculations and using formulas taking into account weight, geometry and force, I began to cut my cardboard to make the templates for linkage. Five boxes of Kelloggs cornflakes and 20 pints of milk later. I bought this!
Is that a Harley shock?
I don't know anyone else using a 'pull' shock instead of conventional 'push' type.
It looks like your going to have to tap the breather plug hole and convert drain to breather, I see the damp patch appearing

As for the shock, yes kind of, It's off a Buell Lightning.
Leak sorted, made the filler the drain and the.......you've guessed it, drain the filler.

I wonder what the NTV final drive is compared to the CX? Most CX owners complain of only having a five speed transmission. I always reach for another gear which is not there. The usual "fix" is to use the 18" rear rather than the CX500C 16" but you will have neither. I'm guessing the wheel you are using is a 17"?
