my cafe/bobber bofe racer? FINISHED..rear set pix as requestd for relocate ideas

Re: my cafe/bobber/cafe. bofe racer? build. leaning more towards cafe.lol

No, you'll have a bit of room though I probably wouldn't go any higher than 1" maybe 1.5" taller.
Should speed up the steering a bit too.....

+1, only problem you may have is that it will change your geometry a bit, but if you go no more than 1.5", you will be fine!

It is hard for me to suggest somthing for you without seeing where they need to go, but remember its your ass if the welds fail! 1/4" should be fine if placed right and braced correctly. The thing to remember here is that you dont want the load stress to bend or move the mounting pegs in any way!

Re: my cafe/bobber/cafe. bofe racer? build. leaning more towards cafe.lol

hmmm, i was going to use some nice thick 3/8 if i did it, but i am starting to convince myself that maybe the amount of work needed to do 1" isnt worth it, i'd also have to do body work to the frame and all that stuff, i think il wait and maybe il stumble upon some rad shock. seem like the most logical thing. (and easiest lol hahaha). :D

Re: my cafe/bobber/cafe. bofe racer? build. LOOK WHAT I DID!

dude, that would be sweet! ive actualy thought about it, but never really considered it as something to do soon, but yeah man that would be sweet, i can actualy picture it in my head mono'd.sweet.
and i can kinda see how id do it.lol. makes sense.

anyhow check out what i did!
figured my clutch and starter cover needed a creative touch and to rep do the ton a little bit since without this place id be in the land of cafe all alone. and everyone here has been crazy helpfull and Stuff anyway, check it out

Re: my cafe/bobber bofe racer? "updates

Alright so here's the deal-io lol, found 14.5 inch shocks in great shape for crazy dirt cheap, my only concern is this will raise the tail 2inches, will my drive shaft be ok at the new angle? Will the geometry be ok? Quicker turns I assume. Thanks for the help guys, again lol, and again. You guys are THE MEN!

Re: my cafe/bobber bofe racer? NEw Question

Should be fine but without being an expert on the bike I can't be 100% sure. I'd do it though, if it were mine.

Quicker turn-IN perhaps, but probably not better handling overall if you get what I mean. Anyway, you'll learn to ride the hell out of it no matter what bike it is, so don't worry too much.

Cheers - boingk

PS: Shafties ROCK!

Re: my cafe/bobber bofe racer? NEw Question

awsome thanks dude, i appreciate the advice, its the little extra push i needed lol. i think it will make the bike look alot more sporty if that makes sense

Re: my cafe/bobber bofe racer? NEw Question

so i totaly won the shocks on ebay, dirt cheap, i wasnt planning on spending the cash as i have other stuff to take care of also, but damn, it was a deal, so anyway, just waiting for the seller to contact me back so i can send payment and get the shocks shipped, should take about a week and a half, and after that, il be postin in show and shine. so till then thats whats up. thanks again to everyone whos helped so far.

Re: my cafe/bobber bofe racer? FINISHED..i think. haha chek it out

hey guys, so i got the shocks, painted and mounted them. also changed the fork oil and stuff. looks alot better, and the new stance helped the steering and looks ALOT! handles soo much better. the rear is nice and tight and had no impact on the driveshaft at all like you guys said, and front is not to stiff or to soft, good for some twisties.
also like some of you saw on the other post the exhaust is also mounted. so i believe i am calling it done. finished. for now atleast, maybe someday something will be changed or added, but as of now its time to ride the hell outta it. im pretty stoked about it, it turned out to be like a mix of modern/vintage cafe sportyness lol.
so check it out over a show and shine the link is below.
i named it "SEVEN".

Re: my cafe/bobber bofe racer? FINISHED..rear set pix as requestd for relocate i

hey guys so as you saw in show n shine im done, but twisted suggested rearsets, so im posting pics of my current left side position, i already figured out how to relocate the shift side, so the problem remaining is the braking mechanism. The elbow, rod, and light switch all run behind the frame hidden from sight, the idea is to move the foot peg to the muffler bracket, as you can see it has a small square slot in which the peg fits.

so if you have any ideas in which i can get the brake to work using whats there that would be great. thanks!

I'm new here, and I pulled up what appears to be a fairly....uncommon topic. I just got a Magna for cheap, and I wanted to go with the British lines of the cafes. The giant tease here is that I cannot see any pictures of this project. Is there any way I could dig up a pic or two of this completed bike?
