I got these in the mail. They Came in pretty quick. I plan to run pod filters so I'll have to find a way to mount them.
Primed the centerstand, battery holder, and the swing arm:
Off Topic:
My sister's 21st birthday is today so I made a cake for her yesterday. My gf and I had to rush making it because we wanted to finish it before my sister came home from work last night, so this is how it turned out:
I call it "Ghetto Kitty". She loved it . Hopefully my bike doesn't turn out looking like this in the end lol!
Here's the seat pan I received in the mail today. Big thanks to DrJ for this! I have to come up with something to mount the seat onto the frame when the time comes. Should be easy.
After trying strip the paint with Kleen-Strip Aircraft Stripper (I wouldn't really recommend this to anyone. It's better to get a gel stripper that you can brush on) I took the wire wheel to it and tired to clean up as much as I can. It's currently cooking in the garage.
I also had time to paint the swing arm, battery cover and centerstand painted while I was fiddling with the seat pan. Here's a picture of the swing arm with 2 coats of paint and 2 coats of clear.
Once I get my seat primed, I'm going to begin the seat build using florist foam and expanding foam.
Then it was time to build the cowl out of floral foam. I used expanding foam to stick it all together. The floral foam was easy to shape, however the expanding foam was pretty annoying when laying it down.
As you can see, here's what it looks like:
Trimmed before I took a break to eat some spaghetti.
Here's the finished product. I used a hacksaw and a mini hacksaw to get it how I wanted. I then used a medium grit sanding sponge to smooth it out. It's not perfectly smooth all over, but it'll be smoothed out further in the build.
I will be fiberglassing it but I don't know if I should use fiberglass resin or the resin jelly. Anyone know which is easier to work with?
Thanks for the advice! RockCityCafe gave me a link for better than auto store resin: http://www.uscomposites.com/polyesters.html.
I'm definitely going to go with this instead.
After staring at the picture above of the seat hump, I'm not completely satisfied with it. It's too big and it'll just look bigger when I lay down some glass, then bondo, prime, etc. I'm going to make it smaller by cutting it an inch back and possibly and inch shorter.
Polyester is the stuff that stinks isn't it? I will never forget the time I went to a canoe factory with a friend of mine when I was little. That smell will stick with me for the rest of my life. Don't you use epoxy CC?

Yeah, I'm an epoxy man myself. RockCity uses alot of polyester resin and likes it (and he's the pro). I must admit, I have only tried the polyester from the auto parts stores, not the good stuff RockCity recommends.
I like West System Epoxy from West Marine. http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/producte/10001/-1/10001/28497/377%20710%20993/712/Epoxy%20/Primary%20Search/mode%20matchallpartial/0/0?N=377%20710%20993&Ne=712&Ntt=Epoxy%20&Ntx=mode%20matchallpartial&page=CategoryDisplayLevel1&isLTokenURL=true&storeNum=5000&subdeptNum=4&classNum=674
They sell a pump kit that makes getting the proper mix ratios easy. Unfortunately the epoxy is a little pricey. There's probably a store near by you also.
Aircraft Spruce and Speciality sells alot of different epoxies. I used some called Alpha Poxy from them a few years ago that worked well and was a bit lower cost. (I can't get their website to come up right now)
I got some work done yesterday. I trimmed more off the seat foam to make it not look so goofy. I also had stripped the tank at the same time. I found some areas were bondo'd. I'll have to smooth out the indents anyway so I'll have to patch up a small dent I found as well.
