My first project. 1969 cb350

If the ball bearing is there and everything seems to be working as it should you probably need to clean the clutch plates, as you said earlier. We just had to do this on a project 350, and a yamaha DT1 before had the same issue. Pretty common!

Keep pluggin' away Jessica.
And yes, that goddamned effing ball bearing. I've seen strong men pull their hair out over this one..
I don't want to be perjorative, but my fuzzy recollection is, a 1/4 inch bearing from any bearing supply joint will work.
And fer chrissakes get the assembly manual LOL.

The real manual not the clymers.

I have the PDF for the 350 if you have google drive or Dropbox I can send it to you.

Used a ball bearing I found laying around the garage, and now my clutch works!! Thanks guys.

I went to start timing last night and found we are missing a "spark advancer" Once I find that I can continue! Hopefully I'll get the bike running by next week.

cb350 will turn but won't start.

Hi! It's been a while. I haven't been in the garage so much recently. I got engaged in January, had to put my dog down in the same month, and we've been house hunting/wedding planning and working so things have been pretty crazy. I finally had some time to work on the bike. Now I'm stuck. We're getting spark, my clear fuel lines show gas is getting to the carbs.. but it's not starting. I tried blocking the intakes while cranking to suck fuel into the carbs.. a little bit is coming out, but it doesn't seem to suck very hard. Could this be a carb issue? Clogged jets? Diaphragms? Wiring is all solid, except the starter button doesnt work. It's not completing a ground some how. When I touch the red/yellow wire to the header it turns over and sparks on both cylinders. Kick start wont do it either. What the heck is going on?!

Congratulations on your engagement! And so sorry to hear about your dog. Im dreading the day when I have to do the same with either of mine.

As to your non start issue. I'm nowherenear as good atthis as Sonrier but your description sounds almost exactly like my friend Scott's CL350. When hebrought it to me after he rebuilt I, it wouldnt start. No vacuum, poor compression but it had spark. Turns out he had adjusted the valves too tightly, causing the lack of comp and vacuum. I readjusted them and it still wasnt starting. Chweck of his timing found that even though he had spark, it wasnt occuring at the right time. Fixed that and it coughed to life on the third kick.

Re: My first project. 1969 cb350 Another small update!

It's alive!!!! We just needed to adjust the timing a bit and now it starts after 1-2 kicks. I cleaned up the wheels and put new tires on. They were 50$ each at a cycle swap meet, brand new! 3.50 front and 3.75 rear. I replaced the brake shoes and I'll be hooking them up tonight! We just need to clean up the wiring and tighten a few nuts, and it will be ready to ride. I also need it registered, we'll see how big of an issue that will be. We have the pink slip and everything seems in order, but we won't know until we go in.

Want to hearrrrr??!?! Here's the video of my bike starting for the first time since 1985.

I am going to cut the end of my frame off to make some changes to my seat soon, too.

So close to my first ride! For now, I pretend.

This is it!! My last batch of parts is arriving today. I'll be reassembling my front brakes, heat shrinking the rest of my wiring, throwing on a few more hose clamps and reupholstering my seat. Ordered some gaitors for fun, too :). Most recently made a plate for my electronics and battery. Cleaned up the wiring harness, and started a new tracker style seat. Thursday I'm taking my permit test so I can legally ride on the streets!

One question for y'all. After rewiring I only get a massive backfire and gas pouring out my carbs. About to grab my manual take the carbs apart but I always appreciate any advice!
