MY GS 400 IN DIFFERENT STAGES

Ohh man that sucks. Must have taken a decent knock in the past for that to happen. Do you have a picture of the hole? you might be able to get it welded if it is not to bad, that would be the best bet. After that I would go with JB weld.

Nope,it was the bolt that all of a sudden was to long (because of spacer/shim?) was pulled of the bolt when i disassembled it.
And it went 2mm tops to much.
I´ll see if i can take a pic on the morning,if i dont grab me a whisky anf finishes of the rest of the engine with an axe..... ::)
Kidding!
Cant wait to see what really happened to morrow when its all cleaned up.
If i have to replace the case i am buying another engine instead :p

Take picture. I have welded up cases before no problem. But it the other stuff you are asking about probably won't work in stress area i am afraid. I will post pics of a case I have welded up in the past if you need. But it can be done by good welder, no problem.

I will try to post a pic in 7-8 hrs have to get home from work first, i haave done some investigations, and there are types of "metalpaste" that can handle great amounts of stress.
Anyways,thanx.
Jorgen

Well now its time to clean up the old bitch (luke skywalker-named by my son) and throw my selves in this moment of truth...
Is it an easy fix or do i have to disassemble the whole thing?????????????? THATS THE QUESTION!!
Wish me luck i feel that it will be needed!
Stay tuned and i will gimme selves the answer in an hour or two. :p :p

Metal paste, solder, or anything else you mentioned is a bond. Welding is the joining back together of the parent metals, and is metal as well.

Well after a loooooong couple of hours things are like they once where in my dear Gs´s heart, and yes Brodie as u mentioned it had been suffer from the samme thing once before......
My first attempt doing this megametal thing, but with some dentist eqipment and "paaaatience" it turned out well.
The engine has no leaks at all.....
Its going back in the frame again tomorrow just so it can idle till its getting hot to see if welding is the only way.
finally got some "decent" pics of the previous damage............... ::)
And one 2 secs after i filled it!

While i was doing the dirty work my eight year old son thougt everything was total boring and got a drill and an extra sidepanel to make "some" holes in it like "back in the days...!
And as u can see from the pic he was occupied for a loooong time,i thougt he was sleepin............ BUT NO!!
I asked him if he would hold it up so i could take a picture with him and his labor, but he refused and said it was because he was going to be a secret agent when growing up,so he wouldnt let the whole "world" see his face........ LOL ;D ;D
Heres the shabby pic of a his labor...

I`m not sure if the paste has hardened properly yet so i`ll give it a day or so before i`m mounting it back in the frame Wich allso in this non anger management disassemble got a bit hurt around some of the engine mounts.
While i wait i have cleaned up the wheels, swapped bearings in the stock front wheel, ordered honda cbr f2 rotors and a new exhaust system.
Think this looks killer(and had a nice pricetag to it!

Nice! wonder if it'd be the same deal for my gs650?

cool...thanks man...i've located a GS1000 front end i thought about putting on it just because of the dualdisc brakes

Think that it will be a pretty easy swap with the right bearings Z.
No need to machine anything. ;)
Early gen cbr rotors will fit with some drilling at the holes to.
Best of luck with your frontenf swap.

Finally some time to play in the garage to day.
But first i`m gonna delivery seat to get some Upholstery i am thinking of Red or tan´ìsh color for the leather with white or red stitches.
But i will let the "leatherguy" decide what he think willl be the best.
Here is a pic of what i have in mind!
