New Jersey sr500 tracker/scrambler

Nothing too exciting tuning the carb stock engine internally. Hood header 12" come engineering cone, k&n ru-1770 filter. Vm36 210 main 20 pilot needle middle clip position. Pulls hard haven't had a chance to really ride it idle is too high.

Steering is shitty

Plate fell off, got sucked under the subframe, did a nice bounce in the rear and shot out the side after bending the seat mount... Penetration is key

I need paint I know

you haven't been diligent in rubbing down the bare frame with wd-40 wilde man

i like the natural rust look its like the bike is alive ;D

every time its nice enough to paint I ride for some reason... then I stop and i'm like fuck that looks terrible

found a left over can of flat black in the garage so I sprayed the subframe real quick ;D made a new plate bracket and just stick the brake light to the frame... hopefully it still works :-\

Check it out first ones are what I had in there last one is fresh plug and a 20 minute ride down a highway.

Stock engine k&n RU1770 hoos header 12 cone engineering muffle VM36 main is at 210 needle middle clip pilot 20 screw about 2 turns out

Kinda hard to start usually have to use the choke and then quickly push the choke down or else it will stall out on me

I'm thinking of dropping one main jet size and possibly a pilot to 17.5 I'm also down the street from the beach

Hopefully someone else sees this that's getting their carb set up

dropped the main jet down to 200 took it for a ride in traffic and it died three miles from the house... I walked it home

you are only on the main jet pulling a load at 3./4 to wot (wide open throttle)
too small or too large a mainjet is not why it died unless you holed a piston
you need to get it out on a deserted road and hammer the fuck out of it pulling some gently climbs wot up near redline to jet the main
otherwise yer just glad handing the whole program
you have ignition issues, far in the whole issues, is what you have, bub

where did you get the vm36 ? where is the stock carb or is that it ?
you will never get it running worth a shit with a bastard carb trying to jet it in. that is a job for a very savvy very experienced tuner who is also talking tt500 in their sleep see ?

I got rid of it, this is a vm36 off a guys sr500 from Washington. he went up to a 38 and sold this to me on ebay. the stock is a vm34ss pumper.

the last spark plug pic is from mostly 3/4 wot down a couple highways and I didn't egt a chance to get to a highway with the main dropped down to 200 because it broke down on me

That plug looks like you're burning oil.

Any smoke from the pipe?

there was smoke when I turned the throttle but as I lessened the jetting it disappeared until I didn't notice any while revving it standing still or wot on the highway. the last picture is of a fresh plug after a highway ride. after that ride I changed the main out to a 200 and on my way to take another highway trip it died and I haven't taken a look at it yet.

It can be tricky, but maybe get someone to follow you and let you know about the smoke when you're actually riding? See if there is smoke, and if so, whether the smoke seems to be when you're accelerating, decelerating (make sure to use compression brake, not just freewheel and wheel brakes), or both.

and yeah you are burning a ton of oil what is the history of that motor ? did it sit for years ? if so rings for sure need refreshing either way you need rings at a minimum you have either stuck or broken or all the above oil control ring
then again is your breather been modiofied ?
do whatever you have to do to get a good stock carb back on there or [pay thre big bucks for a del orto pumper and hire a pro tuner to jet it YOU CANNOT JET A CARBURETOR it is way way beyond your knowledge, skill, patience, time and money...PAY someone to take the bastard 36 you dont need it it will give you less power and never run good
i say it again it will never run good if you have to jet it yourself
