I'm with you and Swagger. Triumph tank all the way! It fits, looks great, and it holds lots of gas. Besides that, BSA tank would present the problem of trying to cover up the tank badge holes.

hahaha.. Triumph tank it is!!.. ;D

yeah.. I was thinking about the badge holes on the BSA tank...
I was contemplating just slapping some bondo on it to make it a bit smooth.. then just leaving it exposed... ;D

or I just get the BSA tear drop badges and slap them on...

Nevertheless.. that BSA tank will go on my XS650 hardtail bobber - now that Ive put that Sportster tank on ebay...

Yep trump tank is best looks more classic and fits the bike giving it better lines, The other one looks like an after thought and to my mind is a bit naff just looks like it is dumped on it with no thought for the whole package. (Plus it carries More motion lotion) ;D

How the hell are ya Allie?... Where the hell have you been??

Still think it looks a lttle " DOLLY PARTON " with the Trump tank.....all TITS n' no HIPS  I think the BSA tank makes ya appreciate the whole package as it dont draw ya in too see nothing but ABOVE the waistline ....More Alba than Parton if ya get what I'm throwin at ya ;D

Either way, its gonna be sweet when its all buttoned up.

OK - so now that you've made the wrong decision about the tank, when are you going to put a proper front wheel on that thing?

From some of the pics, the frame doesn't look like it's sitting properly. Looks like the front end is too low and needs about, 1.5 inches on each side of the axle to make things right.

i'm partial to both tanks
it really changes the bike either way but both are for the best

btw i sent you a pm regarding the sporty tank

which pic are you referring to?
The frame sits perfectly parrallel to the ground.
I was originally planning to lower the front end but was advised against it..
I put a 19 inch wheel on it .. It had originally a 18 inch front wheel

Hiya i am ok thanks have been unwell for a while but feeling much better now. I have mainly been working and money is a tight. but have doen some stuff to my bike when i can. i now have an exup 180 tyre 17"wheel and swingarm plus shock on the FZ (mmm fat rubber) next its exup 44mm forks and brakes etc when money allows . have most of the bits except lower yoke. Triumph looks good, like the trump tank on the trump; after all it letting people know its a triumph gives the bike shoulders and muscles. ;)

ok, I take it back, after a second look I think the triumph tank is at least as good looking as the bsa, and it is a triumph after all!

Not a lot of progress on this build lately...
Ive been spending time on the XS Bobber.. however.. I did finally decide what Im going to do with the tail-light..

I picked up this vintage 1900's Carbide Horse Carriage lamp at the local Antique market yesterday - $15

I rigged it up with parts from a stock cb550/cb750 tail light and voila.. instant coolness:

I"ll mount this baby on the left side of the bike, by the solo seat and mount the plate just underneath it...

Ehhh.. thats bright enough no?

Ya know... Im not 100% sure that I want the Girder front end on this bike!!..
hmmm...
