Re: My 1976 CB750F Build

i would def test with gas!!!! gas is way thinner than water... it will find pin holes do that before you paint... i have seen pin holes destroy paint jobs!!!

Re: My 1976 CB750F Build

you can not pressure test unless you ahve a solid seal and submurge the tank man listening will not do it i have used dish soap as well in the past. how are you getting a solid seal?

Re: My 1976 CB750F Build

Solid seal with seran wrap and play-doh.
I guess I'll put gas in it......

Re: My 1976 CB750F Build

Joe is right. My tank tested fine with the holding pressure, listen for leaks approach and one it had fuel in it the paint started to go soggy in one spot - right on the top by the filler - the most visible spot on the tank and I was not impressed with myself.

Dunk it in the bath tub with a low air pressure in it and watch for bubbles

Re: My 1976 CB750F Build

Il just fill it with gas. I don't feel like dealing with more rust.

Re: My 1976 CB750F Build

i would do bathtub test man... jsut flash rust sands off in no time at all. and that is the best way to tell... go to ace hardware get a large rubber stopper... drill a hole though it that will fit the spicket of your air compressor, turn off the petcock, push that stopper in there... dunk it, pressureize and wait

Re: My 1976 CB750F Build

No leaks for sure! I'll let things evaporate for the next few days.
On to the next part..... I mocked up a couple rear set mounts since the ones I had were off by miles.
I'll take them to the fab shop tomorrow and see how they'll turn out.

Re: My 1976 CB750F Build

I like it. Definately better than stock!

Re: My 1976 CB750F Build

I'm debating polishing it, brushed look (assuming I can do that to my chrome covers too), or having Joe powder coat it..... I'll have stainless hoses with red fittings going on as well.

Re: My 1976 CB750F Build

I would have Joe slap some gloss black powder on it. Help it blend in more than being a focal point... My 2 cents.

Re: My 1976 CB750F Build

Got my rearset mounts done.

Re: My 1976 CB750F Build

It's been slow going, but I did make my stainless oil lines.
Ignore the dust, I've been sanding.

Re: My 1976 CB750F Build

Thanks Mike. Glad you like them.

You're doing a great job on the bike and it deserves a nice rack (of carbs)

Re: My 1976 CB750F Build

It's been a while, but I'm back into the swing of things.
Here's some pics of a fender from a 83 VT750C. I used the original brace to make some brackets so it would fit properly.

Got my new Slingshot Cycles brake lines in the mail today.
Haven't gotten a chance to clean up the bike though, still rough.
