What do you guys think, should I sand the edge of all the fins, or just the top section?

Re: My 1976 CB750F Build

I like what you are doing with the bike. How did you et the paint to stick on the rims? Removed the chrome?

Here is a teaser of my build in progress, Engine almost finished.

Re: My 1976 CB750F Build

We powdercoated them for him. if you would like to have a set of wheels done please shoot me a PM or check our website www.thepowderpro.com
amazing how you can save an old set of wheels!

Re: My 1976 CB750F Build

ooh ya, leave only the top section with sanded edges... and come on... SOS the rest of the metal!!!

Re: My 1976 CB750F Build

Joe, you're talking about the chrome covers right?
I was just worried that it was a plating, but I'd assume SOS won't burn through it.
I wouldn't mind seeing some examples if anyone has them.

Re: My 1976 CB750F Build

here.... this is one that my buddy did on his harley, his pipes, air cleaner, rocker boxes, and battery band where all done in SOS... the pipes where all chrome when it started... see how much cleaner that looks? no stains or oxidized metal, dones not have to come up off the bike and costs ZERO to do...

Re: My 1976 CB750F Build

Alright, you've sold me.
Wasn't sure how the case would look, but I like it.
I'll do whatever I can reach :)

Re: My 1976 CB750F Build

the trick is to GO IN THE SAME DIRECTION!!!!! if you go all over it will look like junk. green scuff pad is what you want. and go to town... little jigga-lube will work nice just a touch to get it going

Re: My 1976 CB750F Build

Covers and valve cover seem to scuff up easily.
The engine case is another story.
Seems to be some sort of coating on it maybe.
Should I bother with it, or just paint it silver and do the brushed look on the covers?

Re: My 1976 CB750F Build

Joe knows.
I did one side of the valve cover.
Check out the comparison.....

I should be able to do the other covers, but I think I'll have to paint the main case.

Re: My 1976 CB750F Build

Looks much better. I think the main case on these are much rougher cast and would require way to much sanding to polish, not to metion keep polished. Spray bomb is probably your best option for those.

Re: My 1976 CB750F Build

Bike is pretty much set for the year.
I still need to tune it if someone wants to help :)
At this point I just want to ride!
