Right now im just trying to figure out how im planning on mounting it so its just sitting there . Made up the prototype mounts for the rearsets out of plate metal for now to see if i got the spaceing right. Then once i get it ill make them out of Alum !! Everything is just kind of a loss fit at the moment !!!
i hope you understand that there is a very very short list of 4 strokes builds i like or even check up on and this is one of them haha i love what this bike has become
So this will teach me not to be bored and mess with my bike ! My story goes like this : Ive been waiting for 4 or 5 months for a buddy to make some spacers as most know . Its really one of the last things needed done and i feel like im at a stand still and it pisses me off . So i go out in the shop tonight and was thinking on my rearsets and the exhuast and working on rebuilding the rear caliper . Well have to let one of the pistons soak to get it out. So was sitting there and dumb ass me thought i didnt turn it over after i got the wiring all bottoned up . So turned the key and hit the botton and heard bad things!!!! So looked and sure enough the ignition caver was cracked SHIT WHAT JUST HAPPENED ? Well pulled the cover off and the lil nut that holds the ignition cam on was well not tightened down by me which when i turned it over cracked the cover. Thankfully it didnt hurt anything i can see other then the cover !!!
So befor i start looking for a new one im going to take a bad thing and see if i can make it cool ! Ive seen guys cut the center out of side covers and place a plastic or other clear or colored acrylic so you can see parts moving when motor is running ! Think BOTM has one on it ? So if that dont work then will find a replacement !! Leason learned i guess ( Which SUCKS LOL )
LOL always works that way doesn't it LOL
And thanks for the offer brad but I think it's screwed ! So as I'm working today been think of some of the stuff I should of done befor PCing the parts and I was one to always say He'll yea PC over paint ! Nother lesson I learned now as its stoping me from doing the thing I want to add ! SO I've been think I'm going to say fuck it on the rearset ! My thinking is like this : I'm trying to mount rearsets by bolting it together and it's becoming a big pain in the ass ! So I'm going to find a nice set of rearsets and sand off the PC in the area and weld tabs on to place the rearsets right . A nother lesson learned I'm guessing !
The top one is the stock one bottom is the new one and came out nice and fits perfect!!! Also rebuilt the rear caliper and painted it . After mounting the rear caliper the wheel spun nice and smooth so no hang ups . Then took a few hours to figure out how to plan on mounting disk and spacing . Here are the caliper and the caliper hung !!
And no those wont be the bolts i use on the hang just ones i had that fit for now !
Forgot also pulled the studs out of the rear wheel to mount the spacer going to run bolts counter sunk thou the disk mount and down into the wheel .
What would be the best type of bolt to lock it all down with and bolts to mount the disk to the mount ? Hardend ? SS ?
Thanks Hoosier !
Johnu i used a rattle can called Hammer Gold i got from home depo for metals work really well ! Can get the make if you need it when i get home !
Can really say 100% but its made to go on wheels , lights poles and other heat spots. Altho we both know calipers get way hotter than those ! Think for me as its going to be a run around bike and not racing it should be ok : But in racing format not sure as they get up there in heat . I think they make a gold just for calipers and can get at most Auto stores or might want to look in on Summit Racings web site !
Got my right rearset in today off a R6 and the left should be here by end of the week ! Took a break for lunch and just kind of set the setup where i might like it . Will work perfect with one small thing ! Even if i move the setup as far as i can forward it will kind of cover the Tuning forks ( if you dont know what im saying look back in the thread to see ) now its not a bad thing because the tuning forks are just form and the rearsets are function which is more inportant !! Ill get some pics up tonight and let you guys see what im talking about . If it comes down to getting the rearset mounted right and having to cut off the area where the tuning forks are then so be it but lets hope it doesnt come down to that :-\
