My 71 is exactly the same as the 70 that you just put up. when I did my seat I kept that front latch, and modified the rear to lower it. As for your tank I am not sure. I can take photos and measurements if that helps you. Also kudos on the filters and silicone tubing. What did you wind up with?

I ended up with the oval offset filters with 1.75" inlets. Then a 1.75" to 1.375" reducer to a 3" 1.375" coupler that will slide right over my 33 mm carb throat. I'm pretty excited - thank you very much for the leads on all of that :)

As for the frame, I don't want you to have to take your tank off to do this, but if it's already off, what is the distance from the 2 bolts that hold the seat latch down, to an imaginary line drawn between the first two battery box screws you come to going front to back? Kinda hard to see in this pic but I'm getting about 92 mm. The seat mount location is kind of a hard dimension to grab but that somewhat gives me an idea.

Anytime!

That measurement is easy dont have to take off the tank, I can get it for you tomorrow morning. Sounds like it's the same offhand.

Afaik All k3 onward cb,cd,ca,cl 175 swing arms will fit and are the same crucial dimentions and construction I'd asume a sl175 arm would fit
The frame parts are theoretically just press fitted ,I was looking at removing them to fit a slightly longer ( and 9mm narrower ) late model cb125 swing to fit but it was easier to widen the swing arm in the end
I've never found anyone whose removed or needed to replace those bushings, just talked about it in forums

those bushings are pretty much a non wear item they are a handy way to reduce down to the spindle size and have the built in lip at the same time

Found out why my tach stopped working... I can't remember where I got this cable from. I wanna say it was an ebay special. I might send it to motion pro.

All the goods for the new intakes came in! 3" coupler, 1.375 to 1.75 expander, 1.75" K&N offset oval filter.

It looks like I'm going to have to cut the lip off of the stainless joiner to fit into the filter correctly but I'm happy with everything.

Thanks Jag for the leads on all the silicone stuff!

Re: "Patina" The 1973 CB175 Cafe Racer

Also, I got out on the road on the little girl for about 40 minutes this past weekend without a blip! Was cruising around up to 68 mph or so and the engine was sounding good. The headlight ears are cheap and start rattling around so I'm buying some cushioned adel clamps to fix that.

But I'm happy to say that with the new stator, Sparck Moto R/R and a lot of help from this place, I'm charging!! I'm finally feeling confident out on this thing going further from home, and that's always a good feeling.

Yes! The fun thing is that my tach cable snapped so until the new one gets here, I'm going by sound.... "Hmm kinda sounds like she's got a little more in her"...vrooooom!

Looks like you may have improved on my design!

Eh idk - the fit is kinda tight. I need to buy some more clamps to keep the joints together so I can flex the whole thing to get the filter to fit.

Really? Mine had plenty of flex didn't really have a problem.

A tight fit is good... *wink wink nod nod*

I think that those are the same K&N's that I have on the PE24s. The filter was hard to put on at first, so I used a hair dryer to warm them up. They've since stretched, and now can be installed with ease.

Because I went with the bigger filters, the smallest opening I could fit was a 1.75". So I needed a reducer to bring it down to 1.375 for my carb throat. That means I have one more joint than you, and consequently one more 2" chunk of stainless which reduced the flexibility quite a bit.

Yeah! Haha. I just need to make sure that I don't have leaks at any of the joints. Which I don't think will hurt too much if I did.

Re: "Patina" The 1973 CB175 Cafe Racer

I just bought some more pipe clamps to get this buttoned up tonight. I need a gopro to prove to you guys who have been through this whole thing that the bike actually rides haha
