"Patina" The 1973 CB175 Cafe Racer

If you can't get it to idle, don't worry about the mains yet. Change only one thing at a time and you'll have a better idea if you're heading in the right direction.

I'd go back and clean the carbs again and spray carb cleaner through one orifice in one carb and repeat on the other and compare flow. Pay special attention to the jets and to the slow jet drilling where it exits into the carb bore just downstream of the slide.

The "flow" or spray comparison of one to another side by side is what usually highlights issues that are not evident to the naked eye.

Greyson have you tried to run it without the gas cap locked down?

Re: "Patina" The 1973 CB175 Cafe Racer

Had trouble with both the cl200 and cb200 (stock) getting them to run and then I remembered the first thing we did with Lucky is remove the old gasket...both of these bikes were strangled because of no vents.

Does the stock latching gas caps spring load for venting?

On my 360 it does. Mine vents well because the gasket is dry rotted all to hell.

Venting is fine. I have clear lines as well. I can remove the gasket in the cap as needed.

Re: "Patina" The 1973 CB175 Cafe Racer

Sorry for the delay guys. Truth is that my seat mount kinda fell apart on me. I tried all kinda of ways to work around it using a bolt-on solution I came up with using the stock battery box mounting holes on the frame. That vibrated itself all to crap.

Needless to say all that was preventing me from doing some real road testing.

I've fabricated some nice solid mounts that I will weld up soon using a buddy's welder and then I'll be back in business on this one.

So long perfect powder coat.

If you count success as being aesthetically pleasing, these are unsuccessful. However, if you count success as me being able to pull really hard on my seat mounts without the weld breaking (and being its my first time welding on a bike), I count this successful!

This is a much better mounting method than my previous version.

Back on track.

Sorry guys, too many irons in the fire right now - but i do have a question

Can you guys confirm jet sizes for the CB175, CL175 and CB200?

The FSM for this is attached and says the CB uses a 95 main (slow not listed), but I can't find a single "kit" that uses a 95#. JetsRus sells them so I'm not worried about getting them but...

I am finding all kinds of mixed information. On Honda Twins...66sprint says the following:

"CB 175 has 98/38.....CL 175 has 90/38....... The CB200 ran 95/35"

But on most websites I find that the kits come with 90/38 like this

http://4into1.com/carburetor-rebuild-complete-kit-honda-cb175-cl175-306a-1972-1973/

But then on ebay, the kit comes with what 66sprint says is fact:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/One-New-Carb-Carburetor-Rebuild-Repair-Kit-For-Honda-CB175-CL175-CB-CL-175-/360795207302?fits=Model%3ACL175

My plan is to buy a variety of mains from 90 to 98 and new 38 slows just to make sure they weren't drilled, but I want to start at the right spot.

What the heck. Well at least I know I need a 38 slow. I think my main is way small. Excited to make a jetsrus investment soon

I believe The specs you posted are from the K0 slopers
Which is why the Venturi is 22mm for the cl specs and use a carb that has a cb77 carb body
Here's the fsm for the cb/cl200 which use the same carb body as the cb175 ( k3 onward ) but with an 18mm venturi

Do you still have the velocity stacks on?

No sir. Attempting to fit k&n eventually.

Re: "Patina" The 1973 CB175 Cafe Racer

I wanna get jetting back stock with filters and see what happens. Problem is it appears there are various jetting standards for k models.
