"Patina" The 1973 CB175 Cafe Racer

Black smoke or blue smoke or too hard to tell? Black is excess fuel and blue is oil.

Little hard to tell but it's def on the whiter side. I would say blue if I had to choose. Looks more white.

Cleaned the carbs again, all passages were clear. Some debris in the pilot jet but not a lot. Set floats to 21mm. Bike cranked on choke but never stopped spewing smoke. Smoked, smoked, smoked, especially immediately upon letting off the throttle.

I'm done guessing, I'm taking the head off to make sure that dang O-ring is in there.

what o-ring ?

There's a rubber one between the head and the jugs.

When the "mechanic" assembled it the first time I'm suspicious he left it out causing oil to seep in to the chamber..?

Are you getting oil externally at the rear of the head by the studs?

Like seeping from the head? Toward the back of the bike is the side where the o rings go right?

having that oring missing will NOT make it smoke ,impossible, there is a fire ring in the head gasket

That's comforting. Wondering what is making it smoke then. What's it there for? Keeping oil from leaking outside; not in?

yes it keeps the oil from seeping out externally, making a mes, but there is no way oil can suck in the combust chamber past the hard seal fire ring in the head gasket

Did you leave your carbs on? Check to see if you have fuel in your oil...we had this same problem with Lucky if your oil smells like gas it will run like a two smoke..
