I was going to post some photos of steel, aluminum and fiberglass for my new LSR sidecar but I got to playing with the stuff before I photographed them.

YES.

How long can you run the Al wheel before you get to the 'wear bars'? :)

What is it with you and sidecars, Hoof? How did you get going on them and how/why do they keep your interest?

Well, to make a long story after I was born the trip home from hospital was in a Rudge and sidecar The only transport I knew for the first two years of my life was that Rudge. I've had a few on the road over the years. If you've ever had one on the road (and I don't mean a slug of a Ural) you'd realize how much fun they are. I got the notion to build one for land speed racing. Turned out it was better than a solo. Being that the sidecar is a laydown I get to kick back and when you're waiting in line you don't have to hold it up. How do they keep my interest? Like anything I'm trying to make it faster. Last year at Bonneville it ran a top speed of 134. With a mile average of just under 130 on gas. This year I want to see if I can get it to 140. I don't know what the top end of a 540cc pushrod single but I want to find out. Curiosity I guess is what keeps my interest.

Rich When the sidecar starts scraping the ground I guess that will mean I' down to the wear bars.

Plus being able to do this will keep me coming back. Three miles wide open is a major hoot.

Was at an RC swapmeet selling off the last of my RC crap from years back and the older fellow next to me had this boat. I was not planning on buying anything as I am out of the hobby, but could not pass this up for the price:

45" Vintage Dumas Sacarb with 35cc weedeater enigine, lol. Beautuiful custom paint job.

NICE! I was in R/C Boats before Bikes myself... not sure which hobby is more expensive. ;)
One of mine was a 45" MicroBurst monohull very similar to your Dumas Scarab with an OS .60 nitro engine. Listed it on E-bay and only got one bid, so it went for the $300 opening price. :(

That thing must rip! I would love to see the roster tail that thing throws.

Hoosier- cool boat! I took a little Prather Tunnel Hull with me and sold it. Got the Dumas for a song and dance. My neighbor has a good sized pond, so I may givwe it a whirl, otherwise off to ebay.

Yeah, I have been into RC since I was a little guy. Have had about eveything out there over the years- fun, but I get bored fast, lol.

Where are you at? I still have a couple, I just haven't gotten them down in a long time and live on a 25 acre lake. Still have my first, a Dumas Deep V 40 that was stick built by me and my Dad when I was a kid and I'm 50 now. ::)
Here is my Octura "White Heat", another stick built 40. They haven't made this kit in 30+ years.

P.S. I still want an "Outrigger" someday

Guy I used to work with was (probably still is) heavily into RC boats.
Did a lot of engine tuning with weed whacker motors for racing (Toxic Marine)

Nice, love it. I built a wood tunnel hull back in the day, was pretty time consuming, but turned out pretty good.

Being on a lake, you should consider a float plane- pretty cool.

I am in Ohio.

throttle cable, shocks, throttle tube, and a shirt I can't wear until I drop another 40lbs was thrown in

So I got pulled over for my tail light being out. I told the cop since o'reillys autoparts was across the street, I'd buy the bulb here and now. He let me off, so I bought the bulb.....no workee....Damn..... the cop followed me to make sure I was buying it, and he was stoked about the bike too. Noticed it didn't work, so he told me to barrow the shop multimeter. No current running to the tail light but I have brake and all other lights. I didn't have time to do an electrical search on the road so I bought and LED tail light, Velcro, a 9 volt battery. I carry wires and some odds and end like a 9 volt battery connector I pulled from one of my kids toys all in my tool bag. The cop smiled as I did my Mcgyver, and said, "well, your legal bro, sweet bike, and ride safe!"

awesome story. and neat little trick to keep in mind!

My $50 blast cabinet modification. $29 shop vac, 5 gallon bucket, some corrugated tubing and pvc fittings, some scrap wood, some hvac aluminum tape, and a furniture dolly, and my pos harbor freight cabinet works beautifully. Now all i need is an interior light. I love that it no longer leaks, and is mobile.

I did something similar, but I like your way better ;)

Did you block off the rear port then? I don't see anything coming out of the back.

Rear port is open, it serves as the intake. On mine it has the integrated "tunnel" on the rear port. Makes a good cross flow.

Awesome, I'll check mine and modify it to the "Kanticoy" method.

Cheers. ;D

I'll be selling my 35mm Woodcrafts btw. I'll post them up when I get the new ones, I want to keep my black bars (which have some scratches anyway).

This is awesome Kant. Def the finish touch I need on my set up. Did you put this in the mod thread?

I haven't yet. Here is a pretty good tutorial doing things exactly like i did. Lowes sells the adapter that bolts to the factory hole in the cabinet and adapts it to a vacuum hose. Its called a "multi tool adapter" and it's in the shop vac section. It's $10. Everything else is straight forward. All i need now is a good light to go inside of it. Gotta research that a bit.
