Today I became the proud (?) owner of what may be one of the most ugly motorcycle tanks I've ever seen.

Yep, pretty ugly... and BIG! Ok, now I need some help: what's it from? Come on, DTT experts, help me out.

Is it a Yamaha Seca tank?

I don't know, not sure if they made a Seca that big, It's really large, like it came from a big ol' artillery piece like a 1000cc or 1100cc. Any ideas out there? I'll need to know what it is before I can get any parts for the cap.

Snagged some chambers for the gt250 on the same trip that ridesolo scored that awesome beast of a tank =) they just have surface rust and are actually made of decedently thick steel. Sure beats $800 for a set of higgsspeeds..

Looks like a Ducati Monster tank to me.......

It is not a monster tank. Pics of the very rear and underside would be nice. The front of the tank and tunnel is peculiar for that style of tank.

More pix coming. I just checked out caps for Ducs on eBay, it looks like they all secure w/ 3 or 5 bolts, on this one the cap secures to the tank w/ 4 bolts.

The mount tabs at the bottom rear of the tank, the rear pinch weld shape, cap position, and again that peculiar rounded nose and wide tunnel will be some defining things to look for and compare. The overall shape of the tank is common so it will be tough to use general shape to find it.

I moved this over to here: (with 8X10 glossies w/ circles and arrows and a description on the back...)

Picked this up from the machine shop last week. BSA top yoke to fit 35mm forks.

Still need to clean it up a bit but it fits perfect and does what I need it to.

Probably jumping the gun because I haven't actually picked it up yet. It's still at Mr E's for a couple of weeks until I have to take my girls to see my mom. This is a base for my next Frankenstein of a bike. I'm getting into this everything Japanese mode of building bikes. Possibly a roller for the XL250 motor I'm about to tear into.

CB750C for $300.

Swingarm was ruined by an idiot with a wire feed welder and more dreams than skill, but the rest of the bike is solidish. Engine was just overhauled by a shop I know and trust.

Couple goodies I picked up over the weekend.

1973 CR250M With the lowest VIN I have seen 8) She came with 2" of dust all over her.

I was at the Iron Man outdoor national with the Legends racing over the weekend and this: was on display, other than fenders, I think your is in better condition if stock. I also got to talk to Guy Cooper (52 years old) who pulled the holeshot on the likes of Carmichael. Windham and Raynard but was quickly passed and it was an RC and Raynard show from lap 2. But man old Coop hit all the big faces like a 25 year old kid!!
