Thanks Pete!

I'm thinking about something along these lines. One on each side. Something with a nice reverse cone muffler on the end. Maybe stainless pipe all around. That of course is subject to change....as is everything else! you know how that goes!

Absolutely beautiful. You are very talented. Makes me wish I could weld.

Re: A way to waste money: The evolution of a confused '74 360

Thanks Jones! I really appreciate that man. It means a lot.

And you can...just get the equipment and learn. I know that sounds a little brash, but it's really that simple. It won't be long and you'll be rockin' along with it.

Again, thanks for the props bro.

Re: A way to waste money: The evolution of a confused '74 360

Kanticoy question, what type of grinding wheel do you
use for your frame work? As soon as my car is out of the garage
the work on the frame can start(factory mounts). I'm looking for something
that won't cut in to the frame much.
Thanks for any tips.

Re: A way to waste money: The evolution of a confused '74 360

I always use a flap wheel Pete. Looks like a grinding wheel but with sandpaper inestead of the stone. Something along 60-100 grit. So much smoother and safer. Good luck!

Kiley, That is sooo sweet! I can't believe how much different it looks now! Def all cafe now. If you were going to bobber it the other way would have been better but this way is much better for the cafe. I really like the work you did on that tail section. Very nice job. Those shots from the back are just sick! Great work homie, great work!

Re: A way to waste money: The evolution of a confused '74 360

Hey Troy!

Brother, you have no idea how influential you are too me man. I was rolling around in te bed last night thinking about a brat style seat and how I was going to lower the front more to make it match the rear of the bike. Somethng just didnt sit rigt about it. I got to looking hard again at the pics when your pm came in. You reminded me how my initial vision for this bike looked when you told me "yep I'm seeing cafe now". So when I went to the shop today I went to brainstorming and hacking and the above photos is what ya got. I owe you bro, and I bet you didn't even know it! So thanks for that, and thanks for the compliments man. I really appreciate that!

Re: A way to waste money: The evolution of a confused '74 360

Looks great man!! Just keeps getting better and better!!

Re: A way to waste money: The evolution of a confused '74 360

ya, I agree with this 100%. My friend recently got a small little lincoln fluxcore welder and has left it at my place for the past few weeks. Ive gone through about 3/4 of a spool of wire, and while Im no expert I do feel that Im getting a little better each time I use it.

ya, I wish I knew this when I started working on my frame. I didnt even know these "soft" wheels existed.

Re: A way to waste money: The evolution of a confused '74 360

Kinda at a stand still, lol!! Between work and working on the house I have been without garage time... Hopefully I'll get some time soon!!

Re: A way to waste money: The evolution of a confused '74 360

I totally understand that Marc! Work and school steal my time. Then the wife likes some of it too!

And congrats on learning the trade Boom! 8)

Re: A way to waste money: The evolution of a confused '74 360

Hey Kanticoy, Marc has it right, it is just getting better and better. I can not wait to see this thing progress now that I had a peek at the inspiration. It is going to be wicked! Can't wait. Anyhow, glad I could help you out a little on your build. Lord knows how much influence and such you injected into mine ;D

Not to hijack the thread but a little suggestion on welding. If you weld something cut it back apart. Just cut a cross section and take note of penetration, undercut and such. Note what amperages were used and at what speed you traveled and how it looks etc. It will really help to see first hand whats really happening in there after the fact. Another thing to practice is welding at different angles. Once you feel comfortable welding flat, the next step is to weld horizontal, then vertical, then overhead. Kinda real world application stuff. Another thing to do is to learn how to chamfer the seams to allow good penetration. What that means is to bevel the two joints at a 45 to create a v. Sometimes it might require a few passes to fill it up, but if you don't trap flux it will make for pretty strong welds. Hope anyof this helps.
Ok, now back to this fantastic build!

Re: A way to waste money: The evolution of a confused '74 360

This bike already looks fast...Without a motor in it! Radical!

Re: A way to waste money: The evolution of a confused '74 360

All I know for sure is one of you guys needs to keep that damn tank on one of your bad ass bob builds. It gives the bike an extremely clean dragster look. The lines on this thing absolutely kill me, and I really like the look of your rear hoop.

Keep it coming!

Re: A way to waste money: The evolution of a confused '74 360

Haha,

that tank will get used man. Plent of builds forthe future planned...it may go on this one. Who knows in these preliminary stages!

Re: A way to waste money: The evolution of a confused '74 360

Hell yeah! This is one bad ass build!
The Alabama cafe racer contingent is getting better all the time 8)
Keep it up dude!

Re: A way to waste money: The evolution of a confused '74 360

yes definitely get a flap wheel. i swear by them. i dont even use rocks anymore. also i noticed your welds look cold. just make sure you get enough heat in them. looks awesome otherwise

Re: A way to waste money: The evolution of a confused '74 360

Hell yes brother! Love the ass shots! Makes me need to sit down! Thanks for the compliments man, they really do keep me going.

And +1 to the bama boys. Provin we have class in the south too! Thanks dude!

More updates tomorrow. I'm stuck at work and it itchin for some wrenching!
