hey man,
just got mine yesterday, real nice kit. is it the 555 kit?
in my cb500 it will be night and day i believe. and with a cb650 cam, some rejetting and some pods. it is sure to move well. i am hoping.
any way, still looking for the cams, i have to wait till one of the guys get back next week, but still have some other spots to source out as well.
later.
Yea it's the 555 kit. It won't be much difference for my ride but it was actually way cheaper to do this than buy OEM parts seperatrly and these pistons are the same make as the originals!
My turn indicators came in last night from Shanghai. They are really cool. The same ones they sell at harrison's but for half the price (literally). Sorry for the garbage pics.
I also got a chance to drop off my head last night to the shop and they said it might be done as soon as tomorrow morning. I am very excited about that but some bad news; I might have to down shift my build in a big way... I am leaving my house unexpectedly soon and I'm not really sure where my next place of residence will be. I hope I can continue this thing.
So as expected, I have not been able to work on my piece for a while. Long story short, my dad had to move in to my place (which he actually owns and I am buying from him until recently) and moved his old garage in to my garage. He is a contractor by trade so he has a whole mess of shit to add to my whole mess of shit. I did, however, get a bunch of new parts!!!! I have misplaced the cable that connects my cam to the pc so pics will have to be uploaded later but:
New Sprockets
New Master Cylinder
Vortex Clipons (for only $100, I might add) - yes i know I was trying to make these but my attempt was a big failure and I dont have the means to continue trying so I bought them.
A mess of nuts and bolts
With any luck, I am going to paint the engine tomorrow. More to follow
Well, looks like Im settled in to the "new place" (my fiance's parents house). I still have the garage set up at my old house and I have been able to shoot over there for some wok.
First a shot of the cylinder head done:
Next, got my sprockets dust seals and a bunch of other shit... only got a pic of the master cylinder tho:
Started painting the engine using the "Rattle Can Bling" Thread and it worked awesome:
A brief mock up:
Some detail I need to clean up a bit:
I got to polish some more stuff last night and bought a spring compressor. Im hoping to have the engine back together by the end of the week. I also got another project bike. You can find it in my sig. Looking for a gl too.
That's an amazing paint job you did on the engine. I'm a little jealous. Also, I spy a soda blaster from Harbor Freight. Excellent build so far. Keep up the awesome work!!!
I got my cylinder head on today (obviously getting my pistons and rings on before that).
FOR THE RECORD: One piece oil ring suck it hard!
I began to put the head on backwards and when I pulled it back off I snapped one of those bastards! After my mild heart attack, I was able to compose myself enough to realize that I had the other set of standard rings I purchased before I did the big bore project which had NOS 3 piece oil rings. I swapped those out and put the head on. In hindsight, Im lucky that the ring broke before I torqued everything down. I have to put the cam guide back in and the the valve head etc etc but I will do that when I get back from a little vacation to the Tahoe Mtn.
