Bum-mer... cool, but bummer...

From the way it looks (and from what a friend tells me) the fender looks like they just covered the rear tire in tinfoil, and molded the tire in FG, then "ducktailed" the end of the fender. Might be intresting to give it a go, i'll add it to my list of things to try this winter.

Nice build,
I've got to say I'm a little disappointed you went white ( even though I love white cars and bikes ), with this build and that brown seat that metalic blue that you had would have looked smokin'. Love the exhaust wanna make me one for my 175 : )

Ya, i know, i really liked the blue aswell, it'll probably end up blue at some point, building this on my condo's hobby room, i just don't have the space to build a booth and spray it with the proper equipment. So i just rattlecanned, coloursanded, buffed, cleared, wetsanded, and then buffed it to a nice shine.

Re: My cb350 project

lol I didnt even notice the bike was painted, I thought it was just the lighting. I do have to agree, with the bronze forks and hte brown seat this bike needs some blue or green.

Hmm... If I do a go at making my own seat I may just have to do this one at the same time...

anybody know where to get a 3.5x18" tube downtown Toronto? As i was mounting my tire yesterday the tube pinched and well, now i need a new one.

TO Cycle on Lakeshore out near Brown's Line has 'em or try 109 Cycle (Warden and Kingston Rd)

Re: My cb350 project

Hi, It looks like you have switched from the stock speedometer to a digital style speedometer/tach about halfway through the project...where did you find that digital/analog style speedo/tach? Thanks, Ryan

It's an Acewell, i forget what i paid. I made it fit in the factory enclosure. It comes in a small black enclosure, that might turn you off though, easy enough to install and wire up.

For everyone else, no updates, i had to focus my energies on renovating the house. unfortunately the bike takes a back seat to that. Should be back at it soon...just in time to ride for winter.

Maybe i'll see some of you at the swapmeet if i can get away for a bit today.

Re: My cb350 project

Man...This is probably my favorite build going right now. I saw the thread bumped and presumed we were getting an update.

Re: My cb350 project

Tel me about it! makes me want to grind out my head stock and find a GSXR front end!

Re: My cb350 project

You guys are too kind.

Sorry no real updates though, I was able to get into the machine shop last weekend to make the brake actutor rod and the mounts for the exhaust, but no real progess. I still have to either cast or machine the real headlight clamps, the RP units hit the tank on the rear flange and cracked.

Bummer, but the prototype parts served there purpose. I just need to change the desgin slightly, instead of the 2 peice design, i'm going to machine it from 1 block and clamp only where the headlight bolts to the clamp. Also, i think i want the headlight to sit slightly up further, on the 50mm dia portion of the forks not the 54mm. This will give me a few more degrees of turning in either direction, as well as save my tank from any damage and give me the ability to install that front headlight fairing if I feel like it.

Hopefully one of these days i'll have a few spare hours to put the final touches on the bike and post some video of it running around my parking garage.

Re: My cb350 project

Love how you finished the seat. Is there a name that anyone knows for that style of stitch?

Are you planning on mounting that rear fender to the frame instead of the swingarm? If so, why?

Fraid i can't help on the name of the stich, all i know is that apparently it was a pita to get them even and straight.

The rear fender is indeed attached to the frame, there really isn't much of a reason for it. It's mainly asthetics to me. I'm honestly not entirely sold on it and will probably be rid of it when it passes safety.

Re: My cb350 project

If you ever end up getting rid of the fender, please please please contact me. I want it so bad. Benjie's will only sell it with the whole kit...

It's called 'French Seams'.

Re: My cb350 project

I agree with this! i would stop it just on the back side of the tire (towards the motor) mount it to the swing arm to catch crap thrown up. i have a fender i made and mocked up for mine... but i do not htink i am going to use it, i just left it bare under there... mine is all powder caoted nothing is going to hurt that too bad

Re: The Tortous: cb350

Gosh it's been a while.

Bike's more or less done, haven't really had a spare moment to put the finishing touches on it. But that should change in the next few weeks. I just received the last part I was waiting on to finish it off. Thanks to my good friend. The test Video is below.

Let me know what you think.

It's the standard trailer light that BCR uses in there seats. As you can see, it contains a Running light, Brake light, and signals.

HUGE thanks to Philip for building it for me!

More updates to follow in the next week or so.
