Hey everyone,
I'm Tom from Munich and I’ve been lurking around the forums for quite some time now but never got around checking in with my build.
So here it is, all the way from last winter up to now.
I started building this bike at the age of 17. Then took a break, came back to it and so on…
It started off as an ugly RT version:
Everything unnecessary ripped off of it:
Back then I didn’t have my own garage or workspace, so I put it in the basement. Little did I know that it won’t get out of there for an entire year.
A couple of new parts came in of which some were modified.
Next up was getting rid of anything above the upper triple clamp.
That was when I realized, the lower triple had a crack. I ordered a new one and was now waiting for new parts to arrive.
In the meantime I sandblasted and powdercoated my rims, put in new SKF bearings and got a set of fresh rubber.
Next up was the front fender, which I fabricated from scratch.
I had a guy I know fabricate a bracket for the original instruments, which turned out pretty nice. Also, I received my stainless steel braided brake hoses with gold fittings.
With the lower clip on bars, all the cables were too long. Especially the clutch bowden cable was a big problem. So I bought a new, shorter one from a /5 BMW. On a lathe I fabricated an adapter piece so it would fit my newer clutch lever.
I've got way more to come! I'll upload the rest later tonight
Stay tuned.
Tom
