Triton/Norvin inspired homebuilt project

Re: Triton/Norvin inspired homebuilt project

lol i figured thatd be the response...looks like one of your engine covers is made out of it. its a high density urethane foam for prototyping.

Re: Triton/Norvin inspired homebuilt project

Nah, nothing that hi tech, just patterns made of good old bondo & wood covered in figlass.
Im aiming to do a bit of alloy casting very soon
Heres a pic of the front end progress. Those are de sprung Guzzi 1000 stauncions with 850 T3 fork sliders, that still have the internal sealed dampers, with Guzzi Eldorado external springs

Re: Triton/Norvin inspired homebuilt project

After several months searching on TradeMe for a suitable alloy tank cap, finally came up with this one, for a paltry $20 including postage, off an old 60's NZeta scooter [New Zealand made under liscence CZeta ]
After a few hours work it came up nice, now its on to finishing the tank build.....

Re: Triton/Norvin inspired homebuilt project

Was out idley watching my youngest son dismember a Nissan Skyline engine the other day
I need a nice looking inspection cover over the Kohlers' flywheel & quite like the look of the Matchless G50 gold painted version & the ones on the JAP motors in the pix

Re: Triton/Norvin inspired homebuilt project

It occurs to me that you've mentioned the massive flywheel on this engine and it's effect on layout.
Why not make your own more suitable spinner? It's obvious that you have the ability.

Re: Triton/Norvin inspired homebuilt project

Wow man! This is amaizing shit here! I am truely in astonishment! This is the first time I looked at this thread! I have spent some time reading and catching up! Its on my radar now and I will be watching with my full attention! A true craftsman and artist! I wan't to say more, but, I am at a loss for words!

Wow! You truely are a mad scientist!

Keep it up! I can't wait to see more!

Yeah, thought about it & certainly could turn one up out of alloy, but this project isnt about all out speed & horsepower, its more about capturing the essence of 50's/60's brit cafe racers with their grunty mid range torque

Re: Triton/Norvin inspired homebuilt project

OK this is off the hook! sick man! mad scientist indeed

It dawned on me that the cars waterpump casting could look really good on this bikes motor so a couple of hours later after a bit of playing around cutting, grinding, filing & polishing heres the result:

truly inspired. you sir, have an eye for the unique, and the talent to make it happen.

I'm in awe.

Re: Triton/Norvin inspired homebuilt project

I just read the entire thread.

I am now a HUGE fan. I am more excited to see the finished product than any other bike I've seen on here.

Re: Triton/Norvin inspired homebuilt project

This is amazing! I've been gather parts for a similar build, but with a diesel aircooled kohler. I can't believe I just saw this. Can't wait to see it progress! Did you ponder using and old h-d tranni too? Or did you just already have the triumph one?

Here in New Zealand Harley parts tend to be quite expensive & not easy to come by,whilst an old pre unit Trumpy 4 speed/clutch setup is both easy to find & cheap to buy & do up if you know the right people
This is also a great time to thank local bike engineering guru Greg Thomas for his invaluable assistance re engine mounting & gearbox renovation, so, thanx Greg! [I know youll be reading this!!]

Re: Triton/Norvin inspired homebuilt project

Heres a pic of what lies behind the primary cover & how the old triumph 4 speed tranny was mounted so it can move fore/aft to take up primary chain slack
Also shown is the highly modded Beemer frame & jappa swingarm combo
