Triton/Norvin inspired homebuilt project

Re: Triton/Norvin inspired homebuilt project

Wow... This whole project is killer. Very cool man. Genius stuff happening here.

Re: Triton/Norvin inspired homebuilt project

That is some very nice fab work amigo! Hell this entire bike is a showcase of fab work.

going back t o my previous comment regarding the flywheel; my thought on turning up an aluminum spinner was more in reference to the motor sitting higher than you wanted (at least that was my impression)....that lump won't overpower you but I bet goes for a long time. We ran a similar engine on a flood pump for irrigation and it would run 4000rpm for days, never had an issue, never hard to start.

Re: Triton/Norvin inspired homebuilt project

looking great! i was wondering what happened to this one!

ever since seeing this ive been wanting to build my own engine... i know i could do it... just need some machinery...

You'll need a little more than some machinery, but I have faith in you young Jedi... ;)

Other cool bits collected over the years for this project include a Smiths speedo,Royal Enfield fuel filters & exhaust heat sinks ,Replica Brit taps, a Vincent tailite & a home made battery bracket with one of my figlass Lucas battery boxes

I am in love with the speedo and tail light.

OK OK...

machinery and a dream... hows that ;)

Re: Triton/Norvin inspired homebuilt project

Little brother, if you have the dream I think you're fine. Tools can be had, vision cannot.
You'll be fine amigo!

Re: Triton/Norvin inspired homebuilt project

Very true... If old Burt Monro could do it 50yrs ago in a shed, you can do it now. Your starting off pretty damn well...

Re: Triton/Norvin inspired homebuilt project

WOOT WOOT!!! :)
Finally picked up the rear wheel today.
'Tis a mixture of some unsuspecting but very lucky jappa trail bike hub rescued from the junkyard in a very sorry state but now freshly black powder coated.
I had it custom laced with a 20mm offset on to my previously black & red pinstriped chrome 18" rim .
The tyre is -naturally- a brand new Dunlop TT100/K81.
She's [yes its a she, in fact Ive christened her 'Lois', for reasons that will become apparent later] almost nearly a roller!!

Re: Triton/Norvin inspired homebuilt project

So,now that Lois is a roller,Ill be needing a sidestand.
Off I go to the junkpile,or as I prefer to call it 'my randomly placed items of potential'
Found a nice shaped cast iron part off god knows what?
An hour or so later ,after baptising it with flame & assorted power tools, mission accomplished

Re: Triton/Norvin inspired homebuilt project

Here she is, FINALLY ON HER WHEELS!! YAY!!! :) :) after I welded on the modded back shock mounts
Ill probably try to lower the front end a little & may end up using shorter back shox
Next job is to shorten the centrestand

Re: Triton/Norvin inspired homebuilt project

Lois' seat is another of my fibreglass one off customs , loosely based on a Norton Manx design
Decided to cover it in brown leather this time,I know its not the most practical choice but Ive always wanted to do it anyway
Eventually itll get a brass badge on the humps rear & a row of brass rivets down each side
