TX500 build

well woke up ready to roll on this sucker and then got sick as hell... did not get much done, but here are a few pics of what i did get done... sucks, wiht any luck ill feel better tomorrow and will be able to knock out a crap load of stuff! it is pretty slow going cause i am a freak about details so i have to hand polish ever bolt, nut, washer, and whever ever else is metal before i put it back on

got the wheel put together, the caliper as well (added a chrome decal wiht the tuning forks my buddy cut for me) check out the rotor wiht the brass center and polished bolts

the other side... you can see the flake i used in the caliper as well as the show ring polished up nice

the 19in wheel looks HUGE on here, just love it, dropped the tubes into the trees 3/4 in just to make it look even bigger, as well as balance it out after it is done (rear shocks i am using are 1 1/4in lower than stock)

did some cheap but cool little tricks to clean up the front end today... had two diff levers, turned them on the belt sander after cutting them to match length... then powdered them...
also filled in my switch housings so only the starter button is there... powder them...
did write ups in the $50 thread cause they are cheap and easy ways to clean up the controls

had to do some polishing work for a buddys dyna... he just got all new paint on his tins and did not want black side cases any more, 3 pad, 6 compounds, and lots of hours... came out good though

man... i just saw irace2win41 sick ass build and makes me think i may do tank dents on this sucke as well... what you guys think? smooth or dents?

Dents are good! Where's a good place to get a cheap belt sander? If I could speed up the sanding process it would help out tremendously or stop watching your thread and getting new ideas. ;D

I say dent it! I like dents. If I wasn't such a pussy, I'd dent my tank. Instead I'm waiting to find another tank to beat up.
Maybe even paint the dents that bronze with a black pinstripe around it... Just a thought.
Love this build. Keep up the bad ass work.

well thats that then... tank dents are on the to do list... good thing cause i dropped a rear set on my tank and scratched the crap out of the paint... ha ha ha and i PREACH always cover the tank!!!! stupid mistake showing the guys the bike after a few too many MGD's

shes ROLLIN'... but she is dusty and dirty as hell! had a buddy come by tonight to give me a hand... he rides a BMW adventure (the tank of motorcycles) he is a big dude though but will randomly just get off the road and blast though a field... he wants to do some powder...so we shot a few parts for the T-rex in translucent gold... had to polish them first then shoot them to get the effect... just a few part for the linkage to adjust the wheel and the spacer... everything else got polished... everything.... well give me some ideas! what do you like, not like... hit me up... OH YA, i know about the scratch in the tank... my girl got on the bike and did not know that the bars where not tight, gave them a pull..... right across the tank. ha ha ha good thing i decided to do some tank dents... and i think i am going to shoot the bike in a hotrod flatz flat white... I am really diggin the 19 in front wheel and where my seat ends.... gives it a very long look... bike is dropped 1.5 in the front to make that tire look even bigger and 1 in the back... (yamaha X250 shocks)

remember the seat will cover the upper rail... so it will be a bit lower to the tire, my duel brake lights will bolt into the hole right behind the shock... one on each side, both working as brake/tail lights

cool, nice to see it rollin! I think the clear gold powder is awesome, however I think its good you kept it to tucked away pieces. I just think actual gold and a gold(ish) color(the frame) kinda clash.

That's on badass build, I read your thread from start to finish. Now I got the bug. I purchased a 1981 Yamaha XS650 Special and started to tear her down. I am not a mechanic but your build gives me inspiration to do it. I will take it slow and will be using your thread and input from this forum for help. Man, I am stoked.... I've been a Harley rider for years and have a 09 Street Glide but the cafe style bikes really got me going. So again, thanks for the great thread, looking forward to seeing the final pics.

Wow, JRK... You've inspired a dude to join the site and build a cafe racer! I think that is a testament to how great this thread and build are. ;D
Loving the progress, it's been a lot of fun for me to watch this bike come together. Keep it up bro!

thanks guys!... cool man! I am a huge fan of the glide... i got a 06 st bob, got to have a HD in the garage.... " I just think actual gold and a gold(ish) color(the frame) kinda clash." oooh i completely agree... that is why i did just a few small parts. Mitch is going to do some odds and ends on his Adventure in this gold and we wanted to try it out... that is the same gold that i am going to use on my 350 bobber... engine is getting that!

Very nice JRK, really shaping up. Nice to see it together and starting to look like a complete bike.

Have you tried flipping the headlight holders upsidedown, may allow you to have a lower headlight. What colour are you going with for the tail?

i like a high headlight set up with a visor... but fitting the guages is goign to decide that... going with white on the seat as well... chome accent strip to match the one for the tank
