TX500 build

thanks guys... ya amazing how you can get wrapped up in life and stuff finds its way to the back burner.... sad part is i have built 3 bikes since i started this project, and it is still not done. i hope to spend some time trying to figure out some more of this wiring crap this weekend... but i am to the point where i am going to ditch this harness that was made for me and just buy the stock wire harness and start over. i am just done with it... hell i built the whole bike in the time I have in the wiring already! that is pathetic when you figure i do wiring every day and have wired over 25 bikes...

I don't understand why you're having so much trouble. And that's not to slight you. These bikes are so simple to wire up and get running, and you have a lot of wiring experience. What is the issue?

got a custom wire harness made up... he used my stock one to make it...all the wires somehow are the same color, nothing works when hooked up, i sent it back, got it back a few months later and it is more of the same... originally i was told to get rid of the key and do a code ignition (ie. back brake brake, start button, front brake... light comes on to indicate i can start, then i can start the bike either kick or button) was "not a problem" however, nothign works, it is all the same color wire, maked with tape (that falls off) he lives a state away and said he bench tested it all and it worked, then i get it and do not even get headlight... in his defence it has got to be hard to build something for a bike states away, but never the less, i just got the unit back a bit ago, and now i need to glass up a case for the electrical box cause not it does not have a box for some reason... just sucks... he is very willing to work with me so that is a great part! now i just need to get in there to wrap my head around the rats nest and get him on the line to see what we can do about getting it going.
i got hooked up by Darmstro and he found me a stock wire harness, but that is an $80 dip i do not really want to take only being 4 weeks out of a 380 person wedding (80 people more than we planned)... usually working on the bikes is my therapy... not lately... it is more like my motivation in the gym!

ahhhhhh FINALLY!!!! SOME GOOD NEWS!!!
ok... well Darmstro was great enough to hook me up with a STOCK wire harness! YES YES YES!!!!!! so i will be rockin that sucker into the bike when i get home from my honeymoon in Greece. To make things even better! my buddy as a wedding present is going to take my tank, seat, and side covers, finish up the body work on them and lay down some pearl white on them while i am gone so that is one last thing i have to worry about! how dope is that!!! so the good news! when i get home, ill be rocking the cafe by the end of the month! finally!!!!!!!!!!!!
tonight i have 4 of my buddies coming by to help me clean up the bike shop and get that in clean condition.

ooh ya and one of my best friends picked up his FIRST bike last night! so whille i am gone he is going to clean it all up and get it shiney... when i come home ill rebuild the carb in that sucker and he will be on the road. he is STOKED!!!!

Darmstro... THANK YOU SO MUCH, YOU SAVED MY TAIL ON THIS ONE, I AM SO PUMPED TO GET HER ROCKING... NEXT PICS YOU GUYS SEE WILL BE HER RUNNING!!!!!

real men ride year round... least that is the excuse that i am going to go with... as i freeze my balls off!!! ha ha ha ha ooh well, i tossed a 3/4 helmet in the box i shipped to my buddy for paint. that way in the winter when it is cold i can still rip this scoot!

back in action! step 1, clean shop and get bike back on the table... took me and 3 of my buddies 6 hours to get it cleaned, vacumed and all organized... the cafe is back where she needs to be to be finished. all my powder equipt is now in the other shop.
step 2 paint: the white appliance paint did not hold up at ALL!!! it is strong yes! but anything that i took the buffer to and shined up really nice, as it sat in the back of the shop it all yellowed and looked like crap. so i was planning on shooting it the real way and puling out the guns and doing it right. instead as a wedding present my buddy is going to knock it out for me while I am on my Honeymoon.. DOPE as hell! so i boxed up the tank, side covers, seat, and a 3/4 helmet... put that and 1 gallon of glacier white, clear, flex, and hardener in the box as well... he is going to add a pearl to the white before he shoots it, cause he has some left over from a 57 chevy he just shot... he does awesome work! so i could not pass up when he offered... just weird having someone else do my paint... that is always what i do! but he is a perfectionist like me so i am not worried...

she is all set ready to be finished after the wedding and honeymoon! next post will include pictures of the tins all painted and looking clean! seat will be finished... and i pray the wiring will be started if not finished! see you when i get back!!!

sorry it is so dark... it was 3 am with a camera phone :)

I'm BACK!!!!! well last night HUGE shot out to Danny from 1/2 fast chicago... he came out to the house to give me a hand with the wiring. we where able to do a combo deal of the wire harness i got and simplify it a bit. He helped me to get it all drawn out. I was also able to get the speedo and cable all hooked up, got the bolts for the headlight ears all polished up and locked in for the headlight bucket... and some other small odds and ends.
so this weekend i will completely finish wiring the bike.. super easy, THANKS DANNY... and with any luck the tins will be here early next week... then she is a RIDER!

Hey, admin. ! what's the record for build thread pages??!! 40??! Hell we're almost there!! ;D

Alright bro...What's up?? Hope you've been busy working on your own bikes?? ;D

Slowly troy slowly... my "issues" with making things perfect is going to be the end of me... i make 5 switch plates the other night... 5... finally i said this is the last one! ill take some pictures of it tonight... it is ok... i cut a piece of aluminum, then cut a sheet of brass, rivited them together, turned them both on the belt sander till the heated up enough where the ends blended together and where smooth, then drilled the holes for the switches, polished out the brass, and mounted it with a 1 in rubber spacer to a motor mount... i hate it, yet everyone that has seen it says it is cool... hell my buddy took my other 4 i had made cause he thought they looked cool. i love this sheet brass my buddy gave me, wrapping stuff is easy and looks cool as hell!

ill post some pics tonight of what it looks like, and what the main harness looks like wired in. i just need to tap in the coils and charging system and we are ready to fire... tank will be here monday i was assured. My buddy takes pride in his painting work and i know he is stoked to finally have some of his work on one of my bikes... so i dont mind waiting. from what he is telling me, my tank, side covers, seat, and 3/4 helmet i sent him are now all a spot on match to caddys pearl white like they used on the esculades. we will see

well here it is... got some more of the wiring done last night...still more to go..

Harness looks sound to me Joe. I like the way that the stator ties in to the rest of the harness. Very clean. I also like the switch panel. Very cool.
