TX500 build

i took fuel line, drilled some small holes in the caps of the the bottles, then coated the hoses in permatex gasket maker, slid the hoses in the holes (had to heat the hole a bit to get the tubing in) then permatex it again, while that dried i built the holder... this will work great for when i tune the carbs and set the points... holds the bottles up and out of the way so if they do fall you will not get gas all over the bike. ill get a close up tonight before i head to the shop

Sounds awesome Joe. Great to see that beast come to life! Cool little gas holder there. Any idea when the tins will be in?

Just listened to her on the vid! That thing is going to be so f'n sweet man, I whish we were close enough for me to see it in person! Any chance you(and her) will make it to barber in 2010, I will be there!

Anyway, really sweet man!
Props!

Very nice work. Thanks for taking time to post of all of this stuff. That is a project in itself.

Looking forward to see everything all together.

Well done.

I got the wifes cafe, my CB350 bobber, and my harley to build this winter... next spring we are going to try and take the cafe's everywhere! let me know when and where it is and we will mark that sucker down!

Nice; respect. I was beginning to think married life slowed you down :) Now you have six months to get her done.

ha ha ha well i feel ya on that one! this bike took me 2x's as long as it should have! The good news is, the shop is now all set up and running great so the next bike should take 1/2 as long. Last night i moved all my powder equipt and supplies over to the other shop where we do all of our powder work. I opend up a ton of space for me. I am going to convert my powder booth into a spray booth and run with that. My buddy is coming out Thurs to tap into my gas line and i will put a REAL heater out there! VERY stoked about that!!! i have to hop up on the ceiling and drop some more insulation though... for sure! I figured less any major hick ups this scoot should be done by the end of the month.
I have 2 bikes to do for customers (94 dyna (evo) and CB360 cafe) this winter and then my own... my goal is to get my CB350 bobber done and my wifes cafe by March. This will allow me a selection of bikes to ride while i put my Harley up on the table and strip her down for the motor build and custom paint/bagger conversion. I got alot planned that is for sure... got to make it work! Wife wants to help me build her cafe so the extra hands will be NICE in there... but i am sure i will have to help my brother out a bit on his goldwing build... either way, it will all be posted on here and as alwas will be looking for help from the DDT guys! I do alot of making running bikes look pretty, not so much the mechanical side of things... but on my CB350 i am going to crack the cases and rebuild that sucker. I have had top ends off before but never dove any deeper than that, so this will be intresting!

I really like how your bike sounds. since you're not running a muffler what did you re jet your carbs too or did you have to?. I think im going to take this route with me exhaust set up. This bike looks amazing. i hope my xs500 turns out as good as this tx500!

ooh i have mufflers in there... if you look back a few threads you can see how i made them. I put a set of V&H short shot pipes on a customers Sporty, he wanted BCT baffles in it (best baffle made by far if you ever own a V twin)... i took his stock baffle and moddified it, then welded and flared and extention on the pipe, made the baffle slide in there and bolt in. ooh ya it is going to need to be rejetted for sure... will prob take me a few diff tried to find what works... the intake affects the jetting in my opinion more than the pipes... but i changed both... with the V stacks it is going to take some TLC to get it dialed in

Come talk to me when you get started on the CB360 cafe. We need to get some MotoFiaccone pipes on her. Not cheap, but the best–especially when you're making a name for yourself building customer bikes.

i feel ya on that! this will be my 11th customer custom build... hahaha first one that is not a V-twin though! Usually i do all harleys and chops... but i got alot of calls for cafe and vintage style bikes this winter! i am stoked to be working on something a bit diff for a change!

I have my CB350 that i am going to run fish tails out the back after i have you extend the swing arm, the more i think about it the more i would like a swoop up on the pipes, just cause after it is all stretched out the pipes will no longer be level with the ground... i am going to try and heat and bend up the headers a bit, however if that fails, i may send those out your way too... i would like some steel spark plates welded on the bottoms of the fishtails so when i drag them in my turns (and i want to) they will throw up a bunch of sparks... it is only going to be a bar hopper, so i am going to run it very fat so that i can put sparkers in the pipes to blow flames out the back... ghetto i know, just like i love it!

got any pics of those pipes? if you can PM them to me i can do my best to sell them to the customer! get some grip in your pocket!

ooh ya! one other thing... i have never told you but you have to have one of the easiest, NICEST, most creative websites i have ever been on! The smoking hot chicks on the site do not hurt either!

Chris, how are you tuning your pipes?

Hey Joe:

the 360 pipes will look like the 350 pipes on my website. Funtionally, the primaries and merge collector may "look" a bit different. I need to reasearch this a bit more. Well, unless the guy wants 2-2 pipes. Then it's easy. I can do whatever.

Thanks for the comments on the website. I threw that together when I lost the server my old site was on. It's kind of grown organically since then. Send those shirts off and take some pics :) I'll set up a section that has customers with MotoFiaccone shirts.

Swagger:

I'm not 100% sure what you mean by "tune." I designed the system around a stock engine with stock cams. From experience, they work amazingly. I'm anxiously awaiting some feedback when the racing season begins.

In truth, I shat myself because the new pipes ran horribly. I could not figure out where I went wrong. After a few days, right before I was about to bin them, I realized I had the choke on. They work great :)

--Thanks, Chris

Ok, let's see...... (sorry for the threadjack Joe)
What's your primary length and diameter?
What type of collector are you using?
Secondary specs?
Are they tuned to a specific RPM range? How did you make your determinations?
Are you tuning them to scavenge and if so, at what wave harmonic?
Torque cones in the primary or a neck/boost after the collector?
How did you determine your specs for your megaphone (it's progression) and the rev.cone added to it?

whew....I'm spent! :D

dialed it in a bit more... you can hear it much better now without so much POP POP POP!

LOL. I sent you a PM explaining what I did. I don't think Joe's build is really the place to discuss this.

Joe:

So you sorted that out? You going to post more video?
