TX500 build

The only thing I'd add is that you should replace your connectors and unfortunately at that point you may as well just build your own harness. Old Japanese connectors will leave you on the side of the road.....and that blows....unless there's a bar.

so... last night i took a deep breath and stated on my wiring... i went slow, used the diagram i drew up... and the primary harness went pretty smooth! i got the on off switch wired in, the tail lights and brake lights, the front brake sliced into the brake light so that lights up the tail lights as well, guages all wired in, headlight wired in and bright switch added in there... did not get to try and kick it over as my starter button, one of the terminal snapped off! lame... ooh well... just got to wire in the charging system and it should be good to fire... we will see... may have to recuit some 1/2 fast chicago help from Danny on that part! getting closer, maybe i will be riding before snow fall!

Glad to see you so close man. I know how you feel; Alex and I have dealt with our share of wiring troubleshooting over the last few weeks. Wiring really sucks, it is surely the part of a motorcycle that I know the least about. I wish I had a better understanding of it! I have been watching this build for a while and just can’t wait to see you finally riding her. (Wow, that last line could be taken out of context!) Anyway, I feel like this bike is a child of a family member who lives far away and I have watched her blossom into a beautiful woman through pictures. Good luck on the wiring, I know you will get her going.

Cheers!

ha ha ha thanks guys.... ya i suck at wiring... but learing is going but slow... i just am sick and tired of coming home everyday and seeing it just sitting there! i want to be RIPPING ON THAT FK'R!
Boom if i can figure this out, the next one will be way easier... ill help you wire yours up no question... Danny from 1/2 fast helped me out a bunch but what really worked awesome. my buddy that knows NOTHING about bikes asked me to explain how the wireing diagram worked... i had to go over it and over it, till finally i was like... WAIT i should be WIRING this as i am talking! pulled out the solder gun, solder, shrink wrap and went to town...

It's almost like waiting nine months for your first kid to be born. Due date arrives and the doc tells ya that it was a mistake, she wasn't really expecting. However, the good news is mom is really pregnant this time. Now you've gotta wait another 9 mos, hahaha.
Joe, I know she will be worth the wait!

troy... got to be honest man, you kind of lost me with the prego analogy but hey... it has taken me a hell of a lot longer than I wanted this to take...but i did build 5 bikes for customers in that time... a chopper, redid my harley, rebuilt my jet ski to race spec... so i did get alot done... not i have to focus on this, it is time to be done! i got a harley to strip down.... wait till you see what i got planned for that! ill start a whole new thread for that... doing a 95 motor, 100hp/100ft lbs of torque, taking it down to the frame... will be dope! been collecting parts for almost a year to do it! i am so stoked!!!

so the T-rex,
she is wired up! got elect start working, n light wired in, charging system, lights... the whole shabang! Tested and have spark at both plugs... tomorrow night i will add some fuel, and get her fired up for the first time in a year... after that, balance out the carbs, check the jetting (short shot style pipes with V stacks on the carbs) , toss on the tins and decals.... and rip the HELL OUT OF IT for what i have left in the season ha ha ha ha!
got to take the wife for a bite to eat... ill snap a few pics when i get home

Hahaha, that's ok bro, sometimes I even lose myself. We all know you've been busy. One thing you can't forget is getting hitched some where in the too. but yeah, It's all about a much anticipated conclusion ;) Can't wait to see this sucker rip down the road.

OK LOTS OF PICTURES so beware!
got a TON done this weekend, i was back to my old self... ha ha ha! anyway,

got the wiring buttoned up, side covers painted, N light tapped in and working... oil pressure light i decided not to wire but left the wire open if i want to later. ready to FIRE!

Since i polised the cases i have not filled in the lettering in them... i took some touch up paint, and used a paper towel, and was able to get the cases filled in, the trim rings and letters all blacked out and looking clean, Used some denature alchole to get all the old polish compounds out, then after it was in there just went arund the edges with the paper towel wrapped in 1 layer tight around my finger...super easy and take not time to look clean!

Sounds great Joe!! Must feel good. Can you shoot a close up of your temp. gas feed system? Just want to see how you attached the fuel line to the bottles. I need to set up a similar thing real soon.
