Victoria! Zeke's CB175 Build

Hey Zeke here for once. I was reading Smokey Yunicks book in the plug wire section. It said to "keep the wires separated at at least .500 of an inch away from ground or any other wire. He said that having the tied together will cause misfire and that's exactly our problem. We have them ziptied together.

Yessir, when two wires flowing current are close together the magnetic field generated by the flow of electrons in one wire will induce a current in the other wire, which is none too good for spark

bah what does smokley know........... ;D
i wouldn't think that would be an issue with a single fire coil 360 crank but it is an easy situiation to avoid

A cb175 twin fire coil works like a transformer when it fires one lead is + the other - theyre never going to be happy that close together

yep...that is another lesson learned. Total embarrassment has always been a way of etching that mistake in my mind...but I learn from my mistakes. I am still amazed how far that spark jumped off the points...kinda help make sense on increasing the sparkplug gap...better burn?

Heidegger, the phenomenologist, wrote that objects only reveal themselves when they are defective in some way. But far from being a negative the defect is what prompts true understanding. Your issues (weather self made or not) move aspects of the bike from 'ready at hand' to 'present at hand' which is where the best learning is. There's really nothing to be embarrassed about unless you already know better

Hey Tex / Zeke,
Don't be embarrassed about the tied together plug lead thing; I was a good deal older than Zeke (almost 18) when I was told by a local friendly bike mechanic to separate the plugs wires on one of my bikes that I had done the obsessive / compulsive thing on by tidying up all the cables, wires, etc. - taped the plug leads together with electricians' tape as it was before tie wraps. Couldn't figure out the misfire 'til then...
A good lesson even today.
Love the dustbin fairing even more than the Peel fairing and I really dig the Peel. Now you need the NSU Supermax seat and it will be 1956 all over again LOL.

Thanks Pat! Zeke named her Victoria the first time he saw her. I tell my son to view a bike like a lady and as a complete living organism and he will learn what works one day will not work on the next day. But it is very important to know what causes her to misfire. :) We were eating a burger at a bar last night and he was talking to a guy who had a car with 600hp and Zeke was just as proud to say "we are making 23 hp!" :)

The denso iridium's come with plug caps and indexed the first time so we will take that as a sign. We have the Denso ix27's which are a cooler plug than the Dr8eix NGK.

The dyna 7mm copper core wires came with 4 plug wires and caps for the plugs www.4into1.com . FYI the dyna coil will only accept up to a 8mm wire unless you remove the casing like we did on the 8.5mm. So for 20 bucks from 4-1 you get 4 dyna wires with 4 plug ends already attached and all you have to do is cut to fit and plug them into the dyna coil. They also sell tygon fuel line by the foot and a myriad of honda parts

. http://4into1.com/ is fast on the shipping. This is the third time we have ordered on a Wednesday and had the parts on Saturday. Check them out!

The 7 mm copper core wires read 16.08 k ohms through the coil while the MSD 8.5 read 16.69 ( same length) everything is at least 1" away from ground and other wires. Bang is complete now on to Suck.

Now for Blow...been wanting to try this synchrometer for a long time. German made it measures actual air flow low all through the rev range for more data

Can't wait to see how that syncro works. Kinda would be cool to have two. Then they will restrict equal amounts. Looks like another high quality German built and engineered product. I love them guys!
