What is the best Honda bike to buy, for a platform, rareness etc?

it was a huge effort, honda wanted to prove that they could win with a 4 stroke of the same displacement as a 2 stroke
of course if huffing were allowed they coulda done it but they had to rely on RPM's, it was just too costly to prove

And you didn't rush to get a loan??? Savage.

I don't see where the NR was going. More valve area? I imagine compression ratio is the same and pumping losses might actually have increased.

Largely more valve area, yeah. Racing regs required four cylinders, at most. Based upon their earlier GP success, they wanted to go with more cylinders, but couldn't. So the next (logical?) step was to make a V8 that was technically a V4. You need big lungs if you want to make power at 22,000 RPM.

honda new the only chance was RPM's..... a V8 or even a V6 was against the rules, the limiting factor to rpms is piston speed this diktaters a short stroke ,honda weren't allowed to race a V8 so they built the oval pistoned NR, the math diktaterd it

OH, that makes sense if you're chasing revs...even if it doesn't make sense.

Did Honda ever race a V8?

CR93 - a few hundred made
CR72 - 25 made
CR77 - even less made and highly collectible
Any ex works Race bike.
CR176 six cylinder replica from George Beale - I think they went for $300k and they made 6 or 7 - don't remember the details

CB anything - I don't think so.

Original 86 VFR750 in red white and blue - oh yes. Had to sell mine to pay the rent back in another time .....

I was stunned the first time I rode a VFR, for it being a 750. I was even more stunned that the Magnas can roll like they do too. Not a fan of the high neck Magnas, but the VF/VFR's feel like the RPM's are linked solid to the throttle. No lag, punchy torque in any gear, but a bastard to service the carbs. The manual says something along the lines of "have faith, the carbs can be removed without lowering the engine, so we've been told." At this point I disconnect the plenum from the carbs and have 'em out or in in twenty minutes.

But customising a VT500, S90, MB5 or other quirky shit. Hmmm

I think 450s are probably my favorite cb. They are well built and have good power with a very artistic head and valve design. I usually judge looks of a cafe bike by the horizontal line created by the tank and seat. The cb350 older versions are almost completely flat and they look great. Where as the cl 350 or 360 are not as flat.

So the 450s are mostly my favorite of the popular era. But they require a gas tank that's off a different bike, custom aluminuim, a old norton or even the cb350f is a great tank. It's barley big enough. But yeah the tank has such an impact on a cafe bikes a esthetics. And bigger tanks are always better.

Compare the cb350 to a cb360. The older 350 that I was talking about has a wider flater and longer tank than the 360. The 360 has a peanut small shape. I recently swapped the rare cb350 four tank on a 360 and it looks soo good. It's much larger, and makes the bike look bigger too. Older norton and Ducatis etc. Have amazing large tanks.

No they lack in comperison to there counter parts in ever cc range
Cb200 < rd200
cb350 < rd350
Cb360< a bicycle
Cb400<rd400 or a kaw 400 triple
Cb500<h1 or t500
Cb550<gt550
Cb650<xs650 or even a kz650
Cb750< h2 or even a gt750
Cb900<z1
And aside from power the none Honda I mentioned are more collected and
More valuable. Honda flooded the market with heavy mass produced shit.
Don't get made becouse I can see the forest through the trees.

Im not a honda hater at all but this list is hard to dispute.

Kz1k or h2 would be my choice.

You can't do a like for like comparison between two stroke and four stroke. That's apples to oranges.
