What would be your dream bike / build? Vintage

This is one of my recurring dreams. The front row is a works Rudge Ulster (Radial 4 valve bronze head), a series A HRD, and the awsome vee 4 AJS. I dream of opening my garage door and seeing them facing me.

I'm not saying I don't like British bikes, but I've always liked little bikes. Something about that two stroke whine and the feeling that you're going way faster than you should be. I guess I would have to pick a Motobecane. Darn French engineering! 8)

Those sexy long, skinny tanks get me every time.

Peace,
Eric

If you like high whining revs you need a Kriedler. The powerband on mine was 14,000-16,000 and if you were in a hurry you could let it go to17,000. The tach started at 10,000. Great little bike. Sorry I sold it.

It's funny.
I was expecting to see everyone saying either a Black Shadow or a Manx but there shure are some interesting choices here.
Maybe if we all pool our money and buy a communal garage we could all have turns riding our dream bike. ::)

It would have to be the one I always intended to build.

Enfield Interceptor lump in a Gold Star rolling chassis with Grimeca or similar brakes, Borrani's, etc.,etc. #That's no more than a whimsical dream now, so I'll fall back on the one I WILL build BID.

Max Deubel homage sitter BMW outfit with a blown [ supercharged] R100 lump.

Something starring a Vincent Black Shadow engine .. the prettiest engine i know :)

#revheadgl, Isnt that a Goldammer bike? I think it has a v-twin converted to a thumper with a supercharger giving it something along the lines of 80-90bhp :S

For too many years to mention, I have wanted an early CB750. Got one now!
But in the spirit of the question,I'm with Hellcat on the Vincent.
But I must admit, that ALS looks good too.

Now this was exactly what I was hoping for. There are some bikes I have never even heard of here or seen being posted. COOL!

Weezy; That BMW is Sick. Would love to ride that or build something like it.

Hoosier Daddy; Okay, I will admit have no idea what the AJS Porcupine is??? But WOW I can see why anyone would want that. The motor schematic looks like something out of a science fiction Novel! Is that a pretty rare bike? What's the history of it?

Eric P; Those wheels on the Motobecane are insane. I think this may be our next wheel design with some modern touches for today's bikes.

Keep them coming guys and gals this is a lot of fun. Actually surprised how many people commented on the Honda's. I caught a lot of shit for building one from the guys on the other sites.

Questions like this, to me, are like asking "what's your favorite band" or "what kind of music do you listen to". It's a question I truly cannot answer. I do agree with everyone's choices though. ;)

I first saw it in Cafe Racer mags Feb / March 2010 issue Pebble Bearch recap.
It was originally designed in 1945 to be supercharged, but the FICM banned that in 1946. Redesigned as naturally aspirated, the E90 won the first GP World Championship of 1949. It was then redesigned with a different engine and dubbed the E95. A complete 1954 E95 AJS Porcupine recently went up for auction, and it sold for $228,620!

Click on the below pic, it's good sized and decent quality!

Thats awesome. What is that big nob on top of the fork? Is is some sort of steering damper that's adjustable. Do you know if was ever supercharged?

Quite possible on the knob as many older Bikes were that way. Even my 69' BSA'a had it. You are right, adjustable tension on the steering. It's just a long bolt with a spring on top of the upper triple tree that cranks down on some friction plates under the bottom tree. Once it was set, I hardly ever touched it.
As far as the supercharging goes I do not know how many were actually ever built. I guess we need to google it. ;)
