What's going on now over at Ichiban Moto ?

Re: Ichiban Moto : Yamaha 500 cafe racer build

I finally had a chance to view the videos and I have to admit: I learned something useful.

I think the wire brush on the foam is actually a really fast way to rough in a shape.

Re: Ichiban Moto : Yamaha 500 cafe racer build

I particularly like the tire as an air tank mod. Bring the hose with you on a trip, and if you get a flat, you can fill the flat tire from the other tire...

The ride will be a little harsh with 150 PSI in the tires, but no worrying about flats anymore.

You would think someone would of thought of this before.... 8)

A wire brush is actually a great tool for shaping Styrofoam, especially concave areas. I gotta say, I've seen worse seats on here. :)

Re: Ichiban Moto : Yamaha 500 cafe racer build

I will be interested to see how it gets mounted though, since the foam is still inside of it.

I must say that I think I have seen all of the mods on this site before sprinkled among various build threads. Even the shock mounting. Don't we all remember the guy that welded his shocks to his frame?

To be honest, I'm just not finding it funny any longer.
We can all see where it's going but I know there are way too many people who think it was on the internet so it's OK to do real dumb shit, particularly as so many people have the attention span of a cockroach so won't read any comments just watch the pretty pictures ::)

:( meanie !

just think what you could do with an oxy acetylene mix in the tires :-X

Re: Ichiban Moto : Yamaha 500 cafe racer build

Ichiban, I know you still have a lot of mods that you want to do to your badass cafe racer, but if you really want it to be special, you have to be willing to push the envelope and do mods that others are afraid to do.

Like this:

Of course, you will have to shell out some money for a square drill bit for your hand drill. They aren't cheap.

Re: Ichiban Moto : Yamaha 500 cafe racer build

You use triangular drills to make square holes, I thought everyone knew that ::)
This is the first vid I found
http://www.wimp.com/squareholes/

radiused corners are safer than sharp ones, they don't create quite the same stress point (but still not good compared to round)

Ouch. That says it all.

Re: Ichiban Moto : Yamaha 500 cafe racer build

He's been making fun the whole time. It wouldn't be as funny otherwise.

+1

If you can't laugh at yourself, you shouldn't really be laughing at anyone.

Re: Ichiban Moto : Yamaha 500 cafe racer build

I'd be interested in making a website for his build, independent of any forum.

See what kinda comments, traffic, etc. that we get. Could be fun, funny and interesting. Lemme know if yer interested, ichiban, I'm happy to set it up and host it.

Re: Ichiban Moto : Yamaha 500 cafe racer build

That is to say, complete the 'build', and have documentation of it.

I'd pay to just watch him ride this abortion. Pay per view event :)

Re: Ichiban Moto : Yamaha 500 cafe racer build

I'm hoping it gets to that point. Would make for an awesome "how to" website...

Re: Ichiban Moto : Yamaha FZ500 cafe racer build

I was hoping that carb bottom part would arrive so I could get the bike fired up for a test ride..... but nothing yet.... so I started in on the wires yesterday.

After many hours of tedious work ... and several cups of coffee later...... I have a trick wiring harness that is simplified and customized for my bike .... all complete and ready to install !

I made a video and put it on youtube:
