front inner tube turned up today so can now put that in, and new rear brake line from hel turned up, have a chap in america making me some black stainless braided hoses to get rid of the splitter as i cant find any that run direct from the master cylinder to the calipers.
well after a lot of homework and phone calls looks like its has the henry abe big bore kit fitted in the past, doesnt look like it was done that long ago either.judging by the state of the bore etc.had to change the name to xs900 now lol
well finally got the bottom end apart , there were x2 hidden bolts
, took the crank out and gearbox for inspection.
put the engine back together with nothing in it for blasting.
only thing i did today was rebuild my starter clutch. drilled out the back of the bolts that had been centre punched to stop them coming out and replaced all internal rollers springs and pushrods with my new kit, then put it all back together with 12.9 bolts loctite and centre punched the back again.
ejether i took everthing that i could out the engine before shipping it off for blasting, it was the best thing i did as its super clean , there is alot of cleaning to do after though, took ages.
so things have been quiet from this lately so thought i would revive it !
stripped and rebuilt the final drive, was a bit daunting at first but is ever so simple really.
only thing i have changed is the seals as all bearings were in brilliant condition and if you replace any bearing you have to set up the gear lash .
here is a pic.
currently doing the middle drive , which again is nice and easy, just changing all the seals as would hate for them to leak as i go down the road for the first time.
