Pretty sure he means the VTR, since he mentioned the "normal disc". Before 89 the VTR had an inboard disc. However, on the 89 with the external disc, it was only a single, and I am pretty sure the forks that year went up in size.

Yeah but most of the motorcycle engines I've dealt with are about 3 times what they are for my GS. My R6, for example is .005"-.008" IN and .009"-.012" EX
What do you mean? The valve clearance on those GS motors is the TIGHTEST valve lash clearance that I've come across! They are STUPID tight and have to be checked every 3000 miles. Are you reading it right? That's 12 to 31 ten thousandths of an inch.
