1988 Kawasaki 750R cafe project - Italian Job

Update: I repainted the rims using Appliance paint in gloss black but kept the center blue. Appliance paint is very tough stuff and looks great. I had to do some touch ups and I also painted the radiator screen the same blue. Everything has been clear coated and now its time to reassemble. I...

    Any luck with the tank?

    1988 CBR600 cafe---waiting for winter tear-down--riding it now!

Re: 1988 CBR600 cafe---color idea done, next up exhaust I thought it looked like a Diavel. I like that look. I will probably end up building a small bracket and attaching the plate at the end of my seat subframe

Got a bit more work done. Painted the center of the wheels the same blue as the frame. I plan to put another coat of paint on. There wont be any overspray as seen here: I also bought some silver carbon fiber vinyl in which to wrap the tank. Here is a pic showing the color combo: I also...

The color is actually dark blue. The camera flash made it change color. This is my idea for a color scheme - dark blue metallic frame and silver carbon fiber vinyl covering the tank and seat with blue ultrasuade seat cover.

Thanks. I appreciate the advice. Ill look into front end swaps. I was never thrilled with the 16 inch rim anyway.

Got seat subframe, swingarm, and both rims primed. Just need to finish cleaning frame and its ready for prime. Im hoping for some paint on this weekend. I have duplicolor deep blue ready for my spray gun for the frame and swing arm and center of the rims, and black for the rest of the rims.

I found a used axle to replace the one I had to pound out. When the bike goes back together, Ill put antiseize so the axle doesnt give me trouble again. I decided to remove the motor in order to properly clean everything and paint. I will also be better able to touch up the engine with paint...

    Nighthawk CB750 cafe

I generally like your project. Im partial to nighthawks since I own an 85 700S. The tail would look better in my opinion if the rear part matched the rear part of the tank. Also, I think it would look better if it was raised up a bit. A quick MSPaint of your bike shows a decent idea of what...

Keep up the good work. What plans do you have for the seat? Its nice to see sport bikes transforming into cafe racers.

I do. Better than the aholes at caferacer.net. I worked most of today on the bike. I was doing some spot glazing on the seat when I got a bit impatient and decided to remove the entire back half of the bike, I also removed the radiator, oil cooler, fan, some hoses and the wiring harness. This...
