SO life happened and I've been away from finishing the bike for some time as this thread shows. The short of it.. I'm going to register the 36 year old bike in Vermont and a few months later title it here in NC. I wasn't aware of how to do that and had essentially given up on getting the bike on...
I'm sure this isn't relevant anymore, but we cut just the rear-most section of the subframe and welded a loop that a friend made to fit my seat. I'm out of town, but can post pictures of what I'm talking about if need be.
You're probably right. I have clip-ons on it right now, and its a stretch literally and figuratively. My thinking was that making the seating position a little closer to my sport bike would help, but the more I think about it the more I think it'll just shift all of my weight into my wrists...
So I really hate to dig up old threads, but it seemed a better idea to post in an existing thread.
This POR15 stuff.. I have a KZ750 tank and my bike has been basically built around it so there is no turning back. The original fuel valve was hitting the frame so I got a guy to cut out petcock...
Is it possible?
In my vast ignorance and shortsightedness I thought that maybe I could throw an ensemble together with extras from racing, but that isn't an option. I've spent an embarrassing amount of time looking at the bike trying to find a way to mount rearsets, but nothing is coming to...
Hate to revive an old thread, but I'm also looking into some new gloves as well. I usually just wear my racing gloves, but I also need to replace those after my last meeting with asphalt.
I would definitely advocate for something with some knuckle protection-even if its just reinforced...
Well guys the project was put on hold for a bit due to school and the CPA exam, but it is now in the sort rows! We ended up getting a guy to handle the carbs and while it was in his shop he went ahead and got the wiring done for the gauges and lights/signals. I finally got to ride it today for...
I talked with my uncle about the general direction I wanted to take with the entire front section of the bike-relocate the ignition/run keyless, flush gas cap, knee dents(partly out of necessity), etc. He called a couple of days later to inform me that he has a spare Ducati 996 gas tank that...
I really like the modern forks on bigger cc bikes. It does seem really counter productive to leave old style rear shocks on the rear and only upgrade the front though..
I'm currently running clipons with stock pegs while I look for ways to put rearsets on a maxim 400 which is also a monoshock...
Not exactly cafe.. But these are the two most special watches that I own.
They belonged to my grandfather and I recently found them. They were at the old house and my aunt had forgotten that they were even there as he died about 15 years ago. The story behind the Roamer is that it was given...
Just dropped the gas tanks off for the local machine shop to work some magic. He didn't look too enthused, but said he would get it done for me. Things are coming together [emoji119]

The lighting is bad, but being Father's Day this is the only chance I'll have of getting pictures today.
We have a lot of work to do still. Re working some of the wiring, rerouting some cables, new brake lines. I'm considering a smaller headlight to allow room for everything as that is...
So I've been busy with studying for the GMAT and work lately, but I haven't forgotten about my Maxim! I have a couple of updates too.

Here is where I was considering ways around the tank issue. I'm going to be taking the...
Anyone know a seamstress in the Raleigh/Wake Forest that can do some work on leather? I got a jacket off of eBay and it could use some small repairs that I don't want to turn into larger issues. That and I rubbed a hole in the arm of my race suit sliding across Carolina Motorsports Park. So that...
