    Relay vs solenoid

A lot of them still are mechanical in nature. The One off my 2006 R6 jumps in your hand and snaps loudly just like the one out of my '62 Ford. What Deviant is talking about is the kind that are mounted to the starter. I don't know if there are motorcycles that have these or not, I've never seen...

Diagram of a non permanent magnet RR

I have an RR from Sonrier for my '75 CB750. I would like to know what a diagram for this thing looks like. Mostly just to satisfy my curiosity, but also to understand the difference between the red and the black wire. I believe the red goes directly to the battery and the black runs to a...

    Relay vs solenoid

What's the difference between a relay and a solenoid? Aren't they both electro-magnetic switches? It occurs to me that the solenoids I can think of are for starters and therefore momentary, and relays for headlights or the like are toggle (but that's more a function of the switch they are...

    Name that tool (please)

it's 4 inches long. The diameter of the working end is .31. I'm fairly convinced that its a schrader valve tool. Which mean's its in the wrong section of my toolbox Thanks!

    Name that tool (please)

Seriously. I don't know what this is. I own it, at one point I felt the need to buy it, probably even special ordered it, maybe even used it. I thought it was a special service tool for either my CL360 or CB750. But I'm becoming less sure of that as time goes on without an answer. Could be a...

    Testing CB750 stator

I also tried this with the field coil (is this what's also called the COMMON?) disconnected also with no change in reading.

    Testing CB750 stator

My '75 750 is having a charging issue. I'm trying to test the stator to narrow down the problems but might be confused. In this picture the white field coil wire is hooked up. The three yellows obviously are not. In this configuration, with the bike running I thought I understood that there...

    Using a timing light

Yes. It's induction. Innova 3551 (I'd link directly to it, but the manufacturers site does not work that way) Again. With the bike off (not running, not acc, off) the light flickers at random when connected to the battery. Plugs are not firing, coils are not energized, pickup is not in place...

    Using a timing light

I just timed it by ear. Rotated the plate until the revs were basically the highest. This was almost all the way counter clockwise.

    Using a timing light

I just tried to time my 750 with its new Pamco but either I'm defective, or my timing light is. As soon as I put power to it (clip it to the battery) it starts to flicker like mad. Not consistently, seemingly randomly. The bike is not on, and the trigger pickup is laying on the floor not near...

    Rewiring a Pamco ignition

Oh, I know. I'm grounding it inside the cover, on one of the mounting screws. That's how I get to just three out. Thanks for the reply though

    Rewiring a Pamco ignition

I just started to hook up my Pamco ignition to my '75 750F. The wiring seems really goofy. There are six wires in total, grouped into two harnesses. Both triggers are green. Then there's a black ground wire from each board, and a red power wire from each board. I'm hoping I can just ground the...

Trying to get the new girl running.

Have not pulled the plugs yet (these newer bikes sure are cramped) Going to try and pick up a magnetic plug socket tonight (mine keep disappearing) If not, I can just get at them with some needle nose. Good point Teazer. She has been sitting for a while "ran when parked"

Trying to get the new girl running.

Thanks for the help all. I'm working on some good leads developing from here: http://www.r6-forum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=321297&page=2 I didn't honestly hold much hope for the R6 forums because it seemed like a lot of fluff talk (aftermarket carbon and neon) without much actual work or...

Trying to get the new girl running.

Dealership!? Is that one of those places where normal people buy things? I've heard about those... seems shady. You give up too easy ;) I'm going to see if jumping the relay turns the pump back on.

Trying to get the new girl running.

I know this is an odd place to ask questions about a 2001 R6 but I'm having a lot of trouble getting her going. I tried to start her quite a few times over several weeks (two young kids mean I try to find ten minutes here and half an hour there to fiddle with it) I had to pull an aftermarket...

    windscreens for sportbikes

I'm looking for a clear windscreen for a 2000 R6 and I can go with one of the big names (Puig or Zero Gravity) and spend around $100, or I can grab a $35 one from "Moto Fairing Inc" I don't want to go cheap if there's a decent reason not to, but this is a piece of trimmed vac formed acrylic...
