Backfiring / Loud Pop on deceleration

So I found out stock jet sizes are 45 & 165, put these in and set the pilot screw to 2.5 turns out. Ran good, but have the same problem when I come off the highway, it starts to hesitate a little bit then goes away. Definitely no more backfiring. Should I try go richer or leaner?

Backfiring / Loud Pop on deceleration

It is just a single carb. So I've tried every setting between 2 and 3.5 turns (any less than 2 and more than 3.5 and it hesitates during idle), and have pretty much come to the conclusion that it starts to hesitate after riding it at high speeds. As soon as I come off the freeway it hesitates...

Backfiring / Loud Pop on deceleration

That's weird didn't get a notification for all the replies... anyway thanks for your responses. Iv'e turned the screw in 2 3/4 turns to make it leaner, the loud pop on deceleration seems to have gone away, and the bike feels a little bit more responsive, but now I get random hesitation, seems...

Backfiring / Loud Pop on deceleration

Hi Guys, I have an 85 honda GB400, single cylinder, single carb. I recently did an overhaul on my carburetor, due to it leaking everywhere and running too big jets (had #165 main jet, and pilot screw (on fuel side) was only screwed out about 1.5 turns). I replaced the main jet with a #152 and...

Carburetor Rebuild - Help With Jets

That's the sort of answer I was hoping for, It was working OK before I pulled it out, so will see how we go.. The carb was leaking, and wouldn't start unless I tilted it upright, other than that, a bit of hesitation until the bike really warmed up.. Worst case, I'm wondering if I could stick...

Carburetor Rebuild - Help With Jets

Sorry, best photo I could get for now, I know the nozzle is seated correctly, and the end of the emulsifier sits flush. It's as if the thread on it is too long.. The person that owned this bike before me has stuffed around with the carb, there was O rings missing, and the jets were way...

Carburetor Rebuild - Help With Jets

Hi Guys, I'm rebuilding my carb (first time I have done this), when installing the main pilot jet, I have done the following: - Installed the main jet nozzle (yes it's in the proper way, I can see it protruding into the venture) - Main jet emulsifier - Main jet What I am worried about is that...

    Compatible tanks for Honda GB400 / GB500

Hi guys, I'm faced with a dilemma, which is a mixture of rust and failed sealer inside the original tank of my Honda GB400. I have not yet tried to remove the sealer (I've been told any paint stripper will do the job), but for peace of mind my preferred option would be to replace the tank. I...
