1979 CB750F Tracker (maybe?)

Bike turned out stellar.

Raising the ass end of that particular tank up a touch makes world of difference aesthetically.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. There have been so many killer builds on this site (all of yours included), and I appreciate the support/not pointing out how poor my decision making can be.

I showed the bike at a very small inaugural motorcycle show in my little town this weekend. I got second in the "Retro Custom" category to a mid 80s Harley with a bolt on trike kit. We were the only two in the category and I was pretty salty at first, but considering I was the only bike out of ~40 that wasn't a Harley, I was definitely at the wrong show. I did meet a few vintage jap guys and spent all afternoon shooting the breeze about CBs, Mid Ohio, and vintage MX so all in all a pretty decent day.

I managed to get some better cell phone photos after the show. A keen eye will notice it's missing a fuel line, and the throttle/clutch cables. I had the old crusty lines installed and removed them last minute in an attempt to get some better "show" points. I've got some shortened cables on the way, then she'll be 100% done...... for now

(Any tips on how to upload a larger file in better quality, let me know. I'm just as inept at photography as I am bike building)

Man I love the stance of this thing - mean and broody. And I really dig its originality too, no small feat with these bikes. That mono shock is a triumph - how's the ride?

If there are any HDs in a show, they usually get the awards no matter how good other bikes are. I was the only non-HD in a show last summer, with 7 HDs. 6 trophies given out to the HDs and 3 of them owned by employees of the sponsoring dealership! You learn to enter the shows for the fun and getting to meet and see again others that are showing. Awards are gravy.

Thanks Jim. Just as expected, the handling is pretty stiff and quick. I used every online calculator I could find, and the rake/trail came out pretty dang close to stock, just slightly improved. Kinda ironic considering all the work just made it "slightly better" than stock ;D But I'll take the better tires and brakes any day

Read through the whole thread! Excellent build. Just goes to show every bike doesnt need to be a 20,000 dollar polished diamond. I bet its gonna be a hoot to ride it.
