1982 Virago 920 engine up build

Mk2 intake is fine - the Mk1 version would have been a nightmare for even distribution.

I've come up with the same idea for my Turbo version. Nice work - as usual. 8)

Fantastic work as usual. I've had problems with air pockets in mold surfaces too, which has made me think about trying a vacuum bag setup in the future. Also, for small pieces, I've had great results with a heat gun to help curing, when the shop is too cold, in our frigid Montana winters. Can't wait for more updates man, top notch work!

Will you please let me be your best friend?? I've never been willing to relocate for a girl. I'll move for you!!

:)

Pictures! Looking forward to watching the exhaust come together.

Wow i just stumbled across this build...amazing sir! Cant wait to see the finished product

well that is good to know. the re-routing was partially aesthetic but it was also for the distribution issues. i think i will still cut off once hard mount and mount it with one of the stock rubber boots just in case.

the heat gun in a good idea! i almost always but a little space heater near the parts and then bring them inside to cure once they have stopped dripping. that is the benefit with West Systems... almost no odor, which my wife appreciates.

Jaw-dropping stuff. Are you going to squeeze some Nasa tech in there somewhere...?

i am going to try and put a nasa tech on the seat... (thats me..) Almost everything i fabricate or design on the bike has been influenced by my training, working here, but i didnt have any plans for specific NASA tech... but now i am curious. what were you imagining?

Just a thought...

But really, is there anything you could get your hands on that has actually been in space?! Even if you just make it into something trivial on the bike, it would still be mega.

Retro rockets, lasers, solid fuel boosters, some of that alien jazz you guys are hiding (I saw Independence Day), cloaking technology... ;)

Ooh, that would be awesome... Oh, cops are behind me, better hit the cloaking device... Lol.

i think the only "cloaking devise" i could affort is a large cape. and that might be troublesome at high speeds. but then... batman did it...

i am trying to make an effort to post picture as i go rather than doing the huge updates far in between. unless there is some objection.

i got the pipe sections cut and am working on piecing them together how i like. this was the first try... and i am not at all happy with it... but the sectioning works just fine. The tape makes it droop more than it will be but i still dont like the lines yet.

i will have more on this soon. i also and going to build the 2-1 transition and work from both ends towards the middle.

thanks!

How do you determine how to make your initial cuts in the pipe? Are you mocking it up in a CAD program or going 'best guess' and then cutting more pieces as necessary?

This build is awesome. Makes me want to get a decent welder to be able customize my bikes a bit further. Can't wait to see what it looks like finished.
As for the Nasa additive why not the logo and "Nasa Tech" under it on the tail up near the seat fabric once it is on?
