1994 Yamaha YZF750R - Vandal

Looks good. Will steal ideas for my plastics repair.

How can it be so difficult to register a motorcycle in US when firearms are so easy? I'm not anti gun by any means, but I can get a bike titled without even a bill of sale. Getting a shotgun on the other hand requires a day long course and application for a permit to purchase. I guess the firearm thing is not that difficult either, but bike registration/title is literally a 15 min thing to get done with a bill of sale.

I have made an error in judgment.

After a few more iterations of sanding, filler, washing, sanding, filler, washing, I was finally ready for primer.

To help paint cure, I generally toss my parts in the oven for a couple of hours.

Either my oven's thermometer isn't that great or 150°F was still too hot.

My fairing melted and is now mostly flat.

Plan B, I guess?

Ugh. What do you want to do with the bike? That will help guide plan B. A street legal track bike? A resto?

That sucks. The problem must be sustained temperature. Deflection temp for ABS is 208°F, but that's under a short term heat load.

looks like it's time to order the repops you already wanted

Mostly a resto. I'm sticking with the aftermarket SP tail. Time to see if I can ruin the 'glass that came with the bike. Then maybe it's time for plan B.

Funny you should say that. I imported a beautiful Yamaha fairing from the UK and shipping was as much as the part and then there were customs clearance fees of more than the cost of the fairing which arrived broken in a couple of places.

If it's a multi piece fairing that's different, they can probably pack it better. Don't suppose there's a ChinaBay set available is there?

She's got a new home. Hopefully we'll see her up and running again now that she's got an owner with more time and discipline than I have.
