A glorified moped . . . and for $3K? I think the novelty would wear off quickly. Don't buy a new one as there will be tons of used ones for sale mid-February '14 when blokes who buy toys they can't afford will regret making payments on something that is sitting in the apartment collecting dust. Just a Theory.

If it wasn't for the 12" wheels, it would be one to buy for me. The motor is the attraction. Otherwise, it's like a modern day ZB50. In Thailand, they made a mini cafe racer, mini RC & mini Monster.

For $3k, you can pick up a used cbr250 (also efi).

Yup, cool bikes! Those are the bikes I mentioned in my prev post. I love all the little details they did on those bikes!

You're way better off with the SYM Wolf. Same price, 25 more cc's, and proper sized tires. SYM has been around for awhile and has a proven track record for reliability. They also manufactured quite a few things for the big 4 Japanese. They might even make the Grom haha.

I think most people will agree with you, SONICJK. It's a cool bike, but not cool enough to buy. I'll take the EFI motor though, like I said before! Depending on sales, Honda may pull the plug on it and it will be one of those one year models they've made in the past. Then, in future, it becomes a sought after classic. Think CB50r dream, ZB50, MB5..... This thread is just one of those "it's a cool bike" conversations. We shall see how many will really buy. I see a lot of the CBR250 bikes for sale on CL and most of the reasons selling is that it is too small. Just cuz we're discussing it positively doesn't mean we're gonna buy it.

This is the entire reason why most of the really cool smaller displacement bikes are not imported to the US. High prices force out most buyers, and it just isn't worth the hassle to import them.

Check out the CB223, I would do a handful of very illegal things to get my hands on one. But the price is just a little outrageous for a 223cc motorbike, and they won't import it anyways.

I own a 2014 Grom (in black), and I have to say, I love it. It isn't fast, but the thing is a TON of fun. Right now I am averaging 107 mpg (on my first fill-up with 92 miles on the clock and still breaking it in. Many owners on the Grom forums report 120+ mpg ratings and so far there are bore kits for 150CCs and 180CCs. There is a HUGE aftermarket for these things already, but I am keeping mine mostly stock for now until there is more competition (read: "less expensive parts").

Do a search for "Grom cafe" and see what you find- pretty sweet.

Honda's success with the Grom is good- (Honda pricing, not so much) , BUT- it has got the attention of Benelli, CFMoto, and other less pricier makes, who are even improving on the design. NOW things are getting interesting.

Groms suck, We use them for teaching MSF and they just suck. Nuff said. Cheap, hard plastics that dig into you, seat will kill your ass in 5 min, under powered, stall all the friggin time for no reason, they just aren't good bikes at all.

I rode one when I worked at a dealer, a 125cc buddy scooter will leave a grom WAY behind. After a while the grom will pass since it has a higher top speed, but they are slow getting there. IMO I would buy a chinese one and use the money saved to make it keep up with traffic.

I think, out of the Street-Legal Minis, that I would want the K-Pipe. It looks the most like a motorcycle, and the motor is weak, but that's what forums like this are for. Finances, or the lack of them, will prevent me from getting a new K-Pipe.
