ok ok... so made some big changes to the bike and now have about 400 miles on it... figured i would share a ride report...
Brakes:
what was done: braided lines, lyndall gold pads, HD touring brembo front caliper, Caliper adapter, HD touring front floating rotor
ride report: SUCKS BALLS! do not even waste your time. This caliper is junk! come to find out it is not even a BREMBO, it is a HD design that Brembo just produced for them. the lever feel is a bit better over stock, the brake performance is spot on to stock if not a bit worse, it took a TON of time to pull this off, custom machine work, i modded the caliper heavily to clean up the look and i can not wait to get this off the bike
Suspension
what was done: back -> Air ride (monroe shocks) with onboard compressor, dump, and guage... front -> progressive springs, 2 top outs, race tech emulators, 5 turns, 15w spectro
Ride report: AWESOME!!! this is the best the bike has EVER rode. i did play with the pressure a bit, 120 is spot on for me, 100 it is really soft and what i will prob run while on the highway for long trips, 120 i can just RIP turns. could not be happier with the suspension. I do want to light up where i put my guage, soon as it starts to get dark i can not see my pressure setting unless i am under a light, i would like to be able to see this any time i look down
Primary tensioner
what was done: Hayden M6
ride report: The change this has on your shifting is unreal! so so much smoother, all but eliminates the clunk, and just feels like the shifts are solid. It does make more noise than the factory tensioner, but I could not notice at all till i had my shield on for a bit. so far so good with this one
Floor boards/shifter
what was done: 1/2 moon ebay floor boards, coated, heel guard welded in, heel shifter added. Moved them 1 inch back from the position i had last year and had to stretch out the heel shifter a bit.
ride report: really like the new set up. put on 250 miles strait riding yesterday super confortable, the heel guard i added lets me rest my foot against that and the heel shift to just kick back and relax.
Guage lights
what was done: swapped out the factory amber leds and installed Blue
ride report: LOVE IT! so much easier to see at night and to be honest looks way better
levers
what was done: bobbed and chopped trigger levers
rider report: took me a good 100 miles to get used to the trigger part and the shorty lever. after that, i loved it! really feels good i can do 1 finger braking and 2 finger clutch pulls now, took a min to get used to how it fit my hand but now it really like it
damper
what was done: Storz damper added
ride report: simply awesome! much more solid bar feel, zero buffering in high speed turns and or under strong braking in turns. very pleased!
Derby cover
what was done: custom cut derby cover from 8541hog on here,
http://www.ebay.com/usr/hdcustomfab
ride report: this thing works great, no leaks, bolted right on, all supplied parts where perfect, i did paint the edge of the lexon as that did stick out a bit behind the black cover and with the black primary looked white, but painted black on the edge it vanished. looks cool and functions very well
kick stand
what was done: 1" lower kick stand was added and powder coated gloss black
ride report: the bike has the perfect lean angle when dropped down (how i store it) i keep about 40psi in the shocks and it has a good lean. i first took the stock kick stand and chopped the tab but i hated how it was tough to get that chopped tab in the frame groove, would just take to much time to possition it and it never felt safe... the new 1" shorter stand is solid and works great
Ill have more once i get my bags back from paint and start on the fairing set up. just wanted to share so far
