You know I stated last week I'm ready for an MOT?...well, it's tomorrow!!

Fitted the following to make it absolutely ready.

New Domino grips in grey/black that fit the Beta twister - they look just right.

MOT regulation registration/number plate affixed on pads - a horrid 8x6" lump :/

1x 20mm rear reflector attached - dinky things, probably keep it on tbh.

A quick whizz up the road and all appears well...fingers x'd

I'll let you all know :)

This is the latest guise...a few purposely selected decals, but to stick to my rule.....all decals have the product fitted, or the service or the retailer....authentic. Stickers for the sake of stickers is something I find off tbh.

Yay, UK MOT has passed. My local bike shop is very handy and John knows his stuff. I'm pleased he gave the build a thumb's up :)

minor advisories:
Raise the angle of the rear brake pedal so it clearances the Micron when depressed.
Slight weep on l/s fork seal
No chain guard

So, a clean bill of health :)

Still need to seal the exhaust spigot from splattering oil over the engine etc. Going to use RGV see how that copes.
At least it's delivering oil, maybe a drop too much....but I've yet to ride it any distance and get the engine hot....I'm still running in tbh. More oil is better than not enough I reckon.

Appropriate tool rack...(that's not John btw)

The colour scheme really pops in the sunshine...me likey.

So, post MOT fettling including:

I had an issue with the number plates, I sticky padded a legal plate to the already sticky padded smaller one.....one roadtest later and both had removed themselves from the bike. Haha...I only noticed the morning of the MOT...arrghh...I ran it up the road and found them both, face down of course!. Bolted the legal one on and off I trot. Ordered a new ultralightweight 1mm thin 6x5".

Exhaust splattering oil from the barrel/mounting spigot. I've removed the Microns and cleaned out the double skin collar, pushed in place a single ring of exhaust string and used 625* RTV in the hope of sealing the joint.

Got the final handgrips on, smart but subtle Dominos to suit the Beta twistgrip, me likey :) The bars are how I wanted them to look, neat, simple enough but functional. Much better with the Protaper padded bar gone.

The exciting news is the bike's been accepted into the Kickback show on September 18th in Gloucester Jail....cool and chuffed.
I'm knocking up a storyboard out fo bits I have saved/bought around the place.

The alloy tripod base now has a Talon rear sprocket and will have a central chrome pole running a taper bearing and holding the info/story signboard.

Oh yeah, looking to debut it at a local annual biker night at Cassington, Oxford UK, Monday 27th June.

Thanks for all the kind comments.

My personal take on showing a bike is that showmanship should be part of it. The bike, of course is the focus - but give them a show of it!

Is that headlight/guage bezel unit from a CB77 ? I love it, awesome bike man.. never see another like it and that is what makes bike building great.

Hello
I am not fond of two strokes. My personal thing (whole childhood struggling with soviet style 2 strokes ;) ), but this bike:
looks just happy :)
I don't know how to explain this... white colour with blue accents, not to much chrome, just where it supposed to be :D
Nice.

p.s. What is the headlight unit from?

Thanks man......I'm pleased my idea turned out OK.

Thanks, I based it on what a comp bike would look like, so function over form, clean but not too showy, no overly polished alloy here, understated decals...the grey frame is a nod towards comp bikes, but the blue suede is a showy touch I couldn't resist.

Headlamp cowl is Honda CD175.

I had acquired the frame in a bike bundle buy deal and wanted some ringadingding in my life :) Just need to buy me some castor oil as an additive/scent.

I always loved the Suzuki triple blue GSXR colour scheme (mind you, it was a toss up to go with Martini Racing colours). So signal white base with decals made by a fella in Moldova to my rough design.

So, trying to tune the carbs to make it run better. It's very much trial and error as I have zero experience in dialing in carbs to expansion pipes. However, it would run like it was bogging down, like it was rich and overfuelling....ful throttle would have it go slower!! But, feathering the throttle saw some improvement in the engine revving, select a gear and it would bog...drop it down one and it seemed to rev but possibly wheel/speed driven as there would be a slight improvement in revs, but bog down again with a very slow pick up.

So, I adjusted the needle one groove up to lean it out....blimey, much better revs and general pick up...far less boggy and much more responsive and lively, pulled the plugs and they appear to be OK colour...bearing in mind I've only gone up the road n back....so think I might've sorted it for now.

There is a 2stroke tuning shop not too far away which may see me book it on for a proper set up tune?

It is still running in.

Does what I've explained make sense to those of you with more 2stroke experience? Any hints n tips welcomed, thank you.
