I decided to take yesterday off from the bike. today i got my exhaust figured out. after some trial and error i ended up with a trail hopper muffler and a custom header made out of some .75 conduit. all it needs is some paint.
The kick starter does hit the exhaust but it isnt that bad. It should flow a hell of a lot better than stock. Tomorrow i hope to get the carb cleaned up and installed and install the electrics and get her fired. I still need to order a few rubber parts for the petcock before i install it but its getting closer to a test ride. The last big thing is to get the seat up to upholstery and cover the roached seat pan.
Ive spent the last couplle days working on the little things like wiring, the seat foam, and other little bits. I spent 4 hours on the electrical system to find my ignition switch is fried. I pick up another one tomorrow along with some other little things. I did get the exhaust painted and a heat shield for the heel of my boot to rest on.
Anyway here's a few pics.
The boy fits pretty good on there. Hey may end up with the bike in a few years.
Its been a while since my last update. Only because i was waiting for my seat to come back from upholstery. It was supposed to be 3 weeks but they called me yesterday and said it was done. While i was waiting on the seat i completely rewired the bike, rebuilt the carb and petcock and took the boots off the forks and replaced them with dust seals. I can get it up to 39mph. I think thats slower than the bike should be. Its running lean on the top end i have a couple jets on order to fatten her up a bit. I also have a 14 tooth sprocket for the front to add a little more top end.
My wife saw it in its current state and decided since it belonged to her as a child that it still belongs to her. No point in arguing i just have to build myself something else. As soon as she got home from work she rode it to her dads in 40 degree weather to show him her new old dirt bike.
still need to mount the plate bracket on the back and wire in the horn button. Im also looking for some badges for the tank i like.
