'72 CL350 Scrambler pipes for your CB350 headers

im looking to trade my CL350 Scrambler high pipes for a set of nice CB350 headers.

The CL350 pipes are in good shape with a little surface rust that's not even visible when the pipes are on the bike. I attached a pic of them on my 350 below, but i can send who ever is interested better pictures of the pipes by themselves.

Totally interested. Low post count makes me a bit leary though... Are you looking for just the headers or mufflers too? I have a set I'd trade that are in beautiful shape, only one flaw and it was repaired. It had a pea sized hole burned through the header on the bottom but it was patched with a piece of steel. Can't see it one the bike but I'll dig up a pic. Where are you located?

Dragonfish - I'm located in southern Connecticut. I'm just looking for the headers because I plan to get aftermarket mufflers anyway. Would it be possible to pm me some pictures of the pipes?

And yeah I'm new here, this is my first bike. Just picked up a few weeks ago. That's why my post count is so low

Thanks

thanks. I just took 10 or so more detailed pictures of the pipes (now that they're off the bike) that ill just post here a little later when I have time.

I'm out. This doesn't smell right. You post this almost too good to be true deal with very low post count, then this dude shows up and his first post is to compete with me. Matt, if this is real just a piece of forum etiquette... don't step on somebody else deal. It looks real shady.

Say what? I've been on DTT for years and was given this link from someone local to me who knew I was interested in the CL pipes. I'm not stepping on anyone's deal, and I'm sorry it came off that way, but I sent him a pm before anyone had replied. I hadn't heard back, so I made a reply in this thread in case he didn't see his PM. So just a rule of forum etiquette, but don't jump to conclusions quite so fast.

In case you don't believe me, here's the FB link to where these were brought to my attention.

Thanks,
Matt

In that case I publicly apologize! Don't mean to be a dick, just been burned on the internet before. Either way, I'm still out. Hope you get a good deal.

Just wanted to add some detailed pictures of the pipes so that everyone who is interested can see exactly what they're like. For the most part, the pipes are in good shape. The mufflers don't necessarily require replacement, but the back sides are quite rusty. There is no rot, however. you'll see on the right side pipe the muffler was patched, but appears to be done quite well and does not leak. The patch is not visible when the pipes are on the bike with the heat shield installed (I didn't even know it was there until i took them off). The right header pipe is still in very good shape, no rust and only minor scratches. Unfortunately, in appears someone welded the muffler to the header instead of clamping it so it will have to be cut off if the muffler is replaced. Not a big deal for someone with a die-grinder. The left side header pipe is not in as good condition as the right. There's a good amount of surface rust but it is not very visible when the pipe is on the bike. As for the muffler, it appears to be in much better condition with less rust. It is also properly clamped on.

I'm trying to be as transparent as possible, hence all of the pictures. This post has been up for a few weeks now and it just randomly began to generate interest. I have a low post count because this is the first motorcycle I've ever owned. If you choose not to trust me, that is you're prerogative but I am certainly not looking to rip anyone off. By the way, we had no "deal" to begin with, dragonfish.

Dragon,

As Matt stated I had informed him of the posting. This was last night and noone had posted any interest. I had just met with Matt and he had stated his interest in the Cl pipes and headers. Sorry for looking out for a local but nothing had been posted by you and no forum "etiquette" had been broken by me giving him the heads up or by him sending a PM.

For those who have dealt with me and know me (even a little) i think me justifying my case is a moot point. For those who don't know me on here or otherwise believe what you want.

I am sure Churlburt can come up with an equitable solution to his needs and really the decission is in his court. I am not affiliated with him nor have I had any dealings with him in the past to vouch for him. I would think anyone who was trying to scam someone would not have been so forthright about the surface rust and repairs and let the origional picture do the talking until everything was in the mail.(at least a good scam artist would LOL). Agian not taking sides just pointing out and clarifying some observations as I see them.

Most of the people on this site are pretty stand up guys. I hope the finger pointing goes away and I am misinterpreting things.

Sorry, did you miss this post? I thought we already let this go.

Try to look at this from my (wary prospective buyer) point of view. Guy shows up with almost no posts at all and offers a rediculous good deal. Nobody replies for a time. I reply interest. There is suddenly another guy whos first post is to also jump on it. (at this point, I had no idea Matt had registered like 4 years ago, it just said post count 1) So yes, we have stand up guys on this site, but from my chair these are both new guys. Its not like Swapmeet Louie posted this... It just looked fishy. I'm on other forums too (different hobbies) and people get scammed a LOT. Like I said above not trying to be a dick.

Second, what I meant by etiquette. On other forums here's how a transaction usually goes. Seller offers. Buyers offers. Second buyer (pay attention to this part) says, I'll take it if first buyer doesn't. I realize we didn't have a "deal". What I'm getting at is, since I had no idea Matt had PM'd the guy the polite thing to do is put your hat in and see if the first guy passes or the deal falls through. I can't see his private messages, thats the "private" part. All I see is my post was the only reply. Again, sorry I got pissy.

No worries fellas...all is right with the world. I can see why dragon thought what he did and I just wanted to get it cleared up. I'm just a mega-lurker on this site and just recently got my first bike, hence my interest in this trade. Anywho, lets let OP get his thread back! :)

yes Dragon....I was late to the game. Sorry I missed that you too had worked it out. I can see from your point of view why it was fishy ETC. I probably would have thought the same thing.
