The headlight was actually bought a few years ago off E-bay for my Miata. When I sold the car I gave one to my friend Matt for his bike and I kept the other. Unfortunately, I have no Idea what it cost or what company sells them. As for the spokes, Buchanan rim and spoke sold me those when I purchased the rims. They are bare carbon steel and I had the painter spray them black. I went and got straws to put each painted spoke in so they didn't scratch each other.
Thanks, by the way those bikes you built Ian are pretty damn cool. I was looking at your site and really like the super sport! I haven't set the bar high....I think there are some crazy builds with modification done to suspension and stuff that really sets those bikes high. Mine is just clean, repaint and ride.
So today started off pretty good. I got to pick up the wheels which were finally trued. Then I brought them to the garage and started to put the tires on. I decided to use the trash bag trick and found out very quickly that that trick is actually trash. I moved on and Tony decided to use soapy water. We got the rear done with most of my skin on my hands but the day went south when I couldn't get the front wheel complete. No matter how much we forced it we just couldn't get the tire over the rim. Since I need to get them balanced I gave up and sent them back to the shop. I asked them if the machine would scratch the rim and they wouldn't say so I guess I'll take the chance. They are going to call in the A.M. so please say a prayer for the rim tonight! :-\
Trash bag? yeah right....
I got the rear on and forgot to take a pic. Notice the Volvo in the background - my inspiration for color choice.
your wheels will be fine, i use a plastic insert on the tire mount when installing tires on powder rims, but even the metal and someone that knows what they are doing it is going to be fine bud
Picked up the wheels this morning....I noticed the machine left a little scratch but I know they did there best so I'm okay with a little touch up paint here and there. I showed up a little early as I am anxious to get this bike running, took a photo while it was still on the machine. I also got stopped once again because I couldn't find the rear brake cam. I looked everywhere and it's still missing. I need this to get the rear wheel on so if anyone knows one for sale please let me know, thanks in advance. lol
Here is the pain in the ass front wheel
Anyway back at the garage ready for assembly
Put the rear sprocket on
loosely fit the front on......Someone remind me to tighten everything before I ride this okay?
the stance on that thing is awesome! man that tire machine is ancient, but hey got the job done! i love that seat and how you did the rear grab rail on the frame that is just awesome!!
I did a search on e-bay and found plenty of cams for other Honda's including 750's. They look very similar but we all know looks can be deceiving. Is it possible that other bikes in the Honda lineup use this same part?
