74 CB360 - cam chain tensioner holder damper stripped

Been Around the Block
I have been slowly working through a complete engine rebuild on my 74 CB360. I was so close to being able to put the engine back on the bike, when a bolt stripped for the cam chain tensioner holder. There doesn't look like there is enough metal to tap it out from a 6 to an 8. And even tapping it out to a 7 looks like it could be on the edge of a bad idea.

Is it possible to drill the thread a little deeper and keep it at 6?

Sometimes running a bolt 5mm longer will fix it. Not a perfect solution, but it works for covers and similar. They're usually tapped a little deeper than the bolts they come with. Are you sure you can't run a time cert?

I could run a time sert..but if I can safely do it without having to spend the money, I would really love to go that route. But if I am going to just be lighting the fuse on a potential time-bomb, I guess I will have to spend the cash.

I don't necessarily think you have a time bomb if you go a few threads deeper. There's two screws in that plate.
