74 CB360T Rookie Build

You must have infinite patience for me haha. I always post ?'s then say "SHIT Trav, read the damn manual and search the forum" haha.

I'm heading out to my garage to mess it up now... thanks for the detailed instructions!

Loosen cable adjustera, I screw the bar end in all the way then back out 1-1/2 turns
Back off cable adjuster on top of case.
Loosen lock nut and UNSCREW the flat head screw until you just feel slight resistance, your setting lifter mechanism against clutch pushrod (you will probably need to check multiple times) It's a good idea to screw in and out a couple of times to make sure screw isn't rusted in one place, if you grease at zerk it should get into all the pieces
When your absolutely sure the screw is just making contact, screw IN (colckwise) about 1/8 turn
Lock the lock nut, adjust cable at case and you 'should' be done ;)
Pull lever a bunch of times to make sure you don't go 'over center' (get a 'clack' and lever goes 'floppy' ;D )
Start over from step 1 ::)
I have a modified sprocket cover on my 360, you can see whats happening behind cover.
I can't remember which page its on but link is in my sig below

Funny that in U.S. Midwest we say "POP" and in England they say "CLACK"

We need a translator. ;D

Pop is the non alcholic fizzy stuff in bottles ;)
When clutch goes over center it's more a 'clack' then a 'pop' ;D

So i took care of everything on the hand controls. The thing is a blast to ride. Cant wait for my seat and rear sets to go on.

One problem... its draining the battery. Lasts about 45miles. I assume bad ground or a short. I checked all the terminals and theyre plugged in the way they're supposed to be. I put the ground from the headlight bracket to the tt top back on correctly i believe?? Any clues as to where to go from here?

Im positive its bot the battery. I just put another brand new one in yesterday.

Also it just wouldnt start after a 45mi ride even kicking it. Put the battery tender on it and it gave me the green light after 5 min but still wont start. Starter solenoid just buzzes

Assuming you were at highway speeds for most of that 45miles.
Have you checked voltage at the battery when it was running before? 3-5k rpm should read 13+ volts.
Regardless, you need to install sparckmoto.com rect/reg.

If new battery is charged. Check the usual, spark and fuel. Then start double checking connections. All connections.

Best thing you can do to find a short is to hook a meter to the battery and turn power on. If it starts to drain, then you probably have a short. Unplug one thing, turn power on, check the meter. If it still drains, plug that thing back up and unplug another thing, one thing at a time until you find the one thing that's draining it. If it doesn't start to drain when you turn power on, but it drains as your ride, then you know you probably have a charging issue. One thing you can check first off is if there are any pinches under the seat. Also make sure the screws that connect the coil wires aren't touching the frame.

Ok its definitely a charging issue. Slowly dies while riding. Will the rect reg fix this? Is this a common problem with 360s?

Even when working properly the crappy stock R/R setup will actually discharge battery at low rpms. Wont start charging until approx 3k give or take. W new R/R it will charge battery at idle.

I think mine read 11.3vdc at battery at idle. Now its 12.5vdc.

But, if there is an "issue" poor connection...etc, somewhere. obviously this wont fix that.

Ordered it last night, I'm hoping this solves it. Was supposed to do the Rolling Bones ride and Vintage bike show today but I just dont trust it. Plus its supposed to rain all day Also got a t shirt from sparck haha! Free advertising for Matt.

Yep its been raining here for an hour. So, its headed up your way. :p

Did you order the little gauge LEDs and fresh pair of slides while you were there?

Im ordering the turn flasher and more gauge LEDs for the cL100 this morning. AND maybe a T-shirt for my daughter. LOL She dont ride at all. But she has a giant collection of motorcycle T's she wears all the time. Several Rust Revival shirts, Checkered past...etc. she loves them.

Re: 74 CB360T Rookie Build

I saw them(led and flasher relay) but dont need em right now. My awesome led headlight mod looks cool but doesnt put out the light needed for night riding. And i dont run signals. My signal is my left arm ;) So until i get the led headlight i want, no night riding. Im ok with that for now anyhow. Too many critters and stupid humans on the roads at night haha. Saw the slides but shouldnt I be fine if ive got the recall stamps on my vin plate?

Mail Lady strikes again! Thanks Matt!

Dont mess w light green/red trace = neutral switch, its one of the 4 in the connector near carbs w 3 stator wires.

Not really plug and play since Honda used 2 separate units w separate plugs.

from stator..
Yellow = yellow and white
Pink = pink

from rectifier...
black = key switched 12v hot
red = battery 12vdc
green = ground

I cant wait to see the look on your face once your elbow deep in Honda wiring. Ha. Be sure to post a selfie. ;)

:eek:

Re: 74 CB360T Rookie Build

Oh my... definitely not plug and play Haha. I'll be sure you all see the look on my face when i tear into it. Either later tonight or tomorrow.

Looks like I'll need to remove my air box. Anything else?
