78 CB750 CAFE Resto-Mod Build

Glad you posted on my thread. I hadn't seen this before. One hell of a build right here.

Looks killer, you should throw up a video of it running.

I nominated it for Bike of the Month, should you choose to accept. http://www.dotheton.com/forum/index.php?topic=65052

Robbing a few ideas here. ::)

A few questions, What were the key areas where you beefed up the frame for rigidity and when you drilled the frame for the pivot axle... did you over bore it and install new bungs or was the enlargement nominal and what you had left was sufficient?

I am working on one similar with modern suspension, but no mono just sticking with two shock and just have no input as far as additional frame gusseting. I know not to over do it and wind up snapping it at a weld joint, just looking for some rider input. As for the pivot, I have a solid plan to use the CB pivot axle inside of an FZ6 race, inside of the CB race ;) ... I know seems retarded, but it works and I'M off bushings and on needles so hey... again options are always nice.

Nice build/bike, something obtainable for garage builders... AAAAnd good use of materials both old and NEW

I gusseted the frame near the rear of the tank and a fair amount for the upper shock mount to take the force of the rear suspension. The stock pivot point had plenty of beef to overbore it for the larger bolt. The CBR arm was a fairly easy fit. The single shock Not so easy. With 2 shocks you should have no problem as long as the pivot bolt is not massive and the width of the arm at the pivot is not to wide.
