The rear tire is what came on the bike when I originally purchased it. It's a Cheng Shin tire.

Update: still haven't gotten the tank and tail back from the painter.

Still haven't gotten the tank and tail yet. This is how it sits at the moment...

Pulling the carbs off, I tore the right side intake boot. This explains the single cylinder fire/misfire at idle. Getting a new set this week.

Anxious to see that thing done, nice work man!!!!

I'm working on a 83 Nighthawk, same engine and frame but much uglier tank.

Re: 79 Honda CM400T - Nerdsports Racer

Alright guys. Here she is completed!! Picked up the tank and tail from the painter Tuesday night and put it all together Wednesday morning.
I really want to thank everyone that has left a comment on here and those who have encouraged me along the way. Forums like DTT keep us moving when we're a little stuck or unmotivated and it's a tremendous help.

That bike has come a long way since I first started following you. Insane man, love it. You find yourself in NC, hit me up, I'd be happy to do a photoshoot for you.

Re: 79 Honda CM400T - Nerdsports Racer

Some very nice fabrication.
I've seen the scrambler -style exhaust on other bikes, which begs the question: is it ok to put the heat of two exhaust headers around one cylinder, while blocking airflow?? I would put some temp strips on the two heads on early runs, see how hot that left cylinder gets.
As much as I hate pipe wrap, this would seem to be an actual practical application for pipe wrap.

I thought the same thing when I did my xs with rears and clips but the other guys swear youll get use to it.
